Re: Little things from the past that you wish would come back.....
I'm never going to understand why fellas are so in love with handchecking. I feel like its such a cheap tactic.
I'm 38, so its not l didn't grow up with it, but I have always thought that it was substitute for playing real defense.
Things like moving your feet, anticipating the ball handers move and beating him to the spot, ball denial, getting up into a guys body with your body to take away his explosive move to the rim.
IMO, handcheck=I can't(or don't want to use the energy to) guard you.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Little things from the past that you wish would come back.....
I agree, jf, I never really cared for it either and its removal has led to some very creative swarming defenses.
The things I miss most are no calls. Refs not afraid to let the game get physical instead of feeling obligated to call a foul everytime contact is made.
Also I liked that there were more coaches who let the players play. I don't like coaches that feel they need to coach every single possession and run the same crap plays over and over.Comment

Re: Little things from the past that you wish would come back.....
I'd like the playoffs to not have a game every 3 days in a playoff series. IF you actually have a good series going, you need to keep the interest going or else these days people lose interest quickly. 3 games in a week? That's ridiculous. The playoffs start to get the grind feeling where the average fan just loses interest.
And finally, it will always be the most obvious one, yet people will intellectualize it til they're blue in the face....Players should not be allowed in the NBA until 3 years after their HS graduation, just like the NFL. The minute you do this, I promise you 5 years down the road your product will improve dramatically. Period.
I shudder to think how much better some of these NBA stars would've been with 3 or 4 years playing for a North Carolina and learning the game from a legendary coach, with other team mates that are viewed as equals and learning the finer points of the games cuz they had to to stay on the team. By the time you reach the NBA it's too late to learn team work, and how to win.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

There will always be busts, no matter how long the players are required to stay in college. You might not have one particular guy getting drafted high but you'll have a guy right next to him who will get drafted high and do nothing. If there was some magical way to get rid of all busts then the NBA would've tried it already.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

You gotta get rid of these crappy franchises(Raptors, Grizzlies, Bobcats, Bucks, T'Wolves, NO/OKC) that never win anything. Disperse the talent among the lower tier teams.
I wish the divisions looked like this..
Eastern Conference
New Jersey
Philly
Boston
New York
Detroit
Cleveland
Chicago
Indiana
Miami
Washington
Orlando
Atlanta
Western Conference
Dallas
San Antonio
Denver
Houston
Utah
Portland
Seattle
Phoenix
LA Clippers
LA Lakers
Sacramento
Golden StateTwitter

THE CLIPPERS!!!
The team that has been a joke for the last 35 years.
You lost all credibility with that one man.
As for me most of the things I miss have been said but I will agree about the artificial lengthening of the playoffs. My goodness, no wonder playoffs ratings have been sinking like a stone. How the hell are you supposed to have momentum when it's 3 or so days between games?!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Many of these wasted picks would go to college and learn a solid set of skills, while many of them would be found out to be entirely worthless, either way the NBA benefits in the end.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Little things from the past that you wish would come back.....
There are alot of little things(and some big things) missing from the NBA today that I would love to see come back.
First are stars in the dunk contest. I want to see Lebron and D-Wade square off with J-Rich and Vinsanity. That would make all-star weekend for me again.
The second one and by far the BIGGEST one is new nicknames. C'mon.....T-Mac, D-Wade, AI.......show some originality please. I was watching some old youtube vids and it was awesome to reminisce on "the human highlight film", "the reign man", 'Magic", "Mailman", and "the Admiral". That was awesome.
You don't want to see Lebron in the dunk contest. He can't do any smooth dunks for ****. Bron can get up with the best of them, but his dunks are the weakest I've ever seen from an athletic high-flyer. I mean ever.Comment
