no one is talking about that play.

we are talking about amare stoudamire. if amare stoudamire had said "bruce bowen is dirty b/c he kicked wally in the face 5 years ago" i wouldn't be arguing. we are talking about the first play, where amare claims he was "kicked" in the achilles.

i'm not going to cry to the mods about it but that's not cool to say get my head out of my *** and shut the hell up.

the first one he kicked him.

the second two were incidental contact.

tell me kash where would you like bowen to stand while the other players try to score? can he come within 2 feet, 5, 8? this isn't two ball it's the nba playoffs.

would one person answer that please?

if you've ever played ball you've gotten your feet tangled up with someone else.

nba players don't like it because they want to come out and shoot their uncontested jumpers and be on sportscenter. that's fine but don't get mad when we're in the business of competing and putting out all these whiners in the 2nd round. as far as i'm concerned he's up there with everyone else that's cried about bowen.

You're telling me that he suddenly kicks out his foot and that foot happens to hit exactly on the Achilles tendon?

On the Amare vid, you can see Bowen's head shift from looking at AS's shot to his heel, looking down at the contact spot. When there's incidental contact, your vision is not going to move toward the contact spot. You're going to look toward wherever the anticipation of the target needs to be. The funny thing is Bowen doesn't seem to need these tactics as he is genuinely a good defender without them. Makes you wonder if he didn't learn this stuff very early on in the playgrounds.

you see what you want to see.

this is just part of the phoenix suns' victim mentality. "the whole world is out to get us and our absolutely beautiful basketball we play!"

let's see, cry like little girls and keep getting beat or man up and play d and win championships?

i'm done with this topic no good can come out of it. david stern isn't doing anything about it, so it's fine with me.

Hey Einstein, I'm rooting for the Spurs --- have for years because of their throwback style of proven winning play. I'll keep rooting for the Spurs despite Bowen. But if a guy has a track record, then he has a track record. Last I checked, if you kick, isn't that being like a "little girl"?

Cosign w/ dafly... I'm not knocking the Spurs at all.. but anyone who tries to defend Bowen in this case need to get their eyes checked. I have no problem rooting for the Spurs, and I'd like to see them prevail against the Suns... but some of their "we can do no wrong" fans, have me sorta going the other way.

Re: Stoudamire calling out dirty play of the Spurs

Well Stu Jackson's decisions on Kobe came down to "Unnatural basketball motion", correct? Well I think this is what we break this down to. Looking at this play, especially in replay, the way Bowen goes at Amare is "unnatural." Look in the close replay and look at how he "stops."

But just because of Bowen's record, these incidences are going to be scrutinized and nobody can help that but Bowen himself. To me, it still doesn't make sense as to how Bowen's never been punished for not one of these when Kobe has.

Naturally, you just stop on two feet in a broken down position. But Bowen looks like he was off balance and it was either because he was intentionally trying to kick him or his foot slipped. I seriously doubt his foot slipped. Just looking at the replay he kicked and then brought his foot back under him, so it looks like he was aware of what he was doing.

Every team needs a player like Bowen. A class act off the court and a guy who's not afraid to dish out injuries on the court. Say what you want about his dirty plays, it's made him one of the best defenders of this era.

Also, on the tangle up with VC, first VC lowers the shoulder in what should be an offensive foul, and he kicks his legs out on the jump-shot trying to draw contact, and when he gets the contact he was looking for he tries to fight.
