They're pretty solid for a 6'10" guy. It's more of his mobility at 6'10" than his dribbling skills that are impressive.

I can't believe someone said he can dribble better than Ray Allen though. That's just baseless.

I'd say the best Durant comparison so far would be Dirk Nowitzki with a little more run and jump athleticism. His body build is in between a KG and TMac... but his game isn't interior enough to be compared to Garnett and not athletic enough to be a McGrady.

Also, with Jeff Green playing alongside him on the Sonics... I wouldn't put Durant into the definite PF or definite SF category. Both of those guys are athletic SF/PFs, so I can see them being completely interchangeable.

I thght he meant that because he was a sharp shooter he couldn't get to the rack. And I think Lebron was guarding him part of the time, not sure though.

        Re: Kevin Durant

Durant reminds me a little of Carmelo Anthony. Both are good shooters and can play down low, as well as handle the ball and play out on the perimeter. Carmelo may be a tad more athletic than Durant though, and Melo is a lot stronger than Durant.

Yes, they are great for a player his size. But when people start bringing in players like Kobe and Tmac, then his handles arent being judged based on his size, but instead, in general, and he doesnt come close to comparing to a Kobe or Tmac. As a PF, Durant might be the best ball-handling PF in the league. Lamar Odom is clearly better, but besides that I'd put him ahead of Dirk at #2. But if you want to bring in guys like LeBron James, Paul Pierce, even say a Luke Walton or such, then his ball-handling is nothing more than above average if that.

Have you seen either player play?

Pointguard, I wasn't saying KD and Joe Johnson were spitting images of one another. To me they have some similarities. They both seem slithery to me. Obviously JJ is shorter so he is going to have a different skill set. I think I made it clear that I see him in a T-Mac/Carmelo mold.

I agree with you about the jock riding/overrating of KD that goes on.. Like I said in my first posts on the topic, I wouldn't be surprised if he never dominates.

That video is really impressive. I would agree with the poster who said we really haven't seen a player like Durant before. He's a big man with range a la Dirk, but much quicker and more explosive. I didn't even make it through the whole video but the kid did pretty much anything you could ask for in offensive player.

For those who's saying he's being overhyped, what more could he have done to impress you? 26 ppg and 11 rbs as a freshman in a major conference . That's pretty much unheard of. He definitely needs to get in the weight room, but other than that he's an offensive stud.

If i HAD to compare him to somebody currently in the league I would compare him to a much, much, much, better Tayshaun Prince. A guy who is too quick for PF's and too tall for SF's. I think he'll struggle at first, but eventually will be a match up nightmare for opponents.
              Good job! Good effort!

I personally think he's going to be at the very least, a good pro. I also feel that people are giving him way too much before he's even played a regular season game. I don't think we're saying he's overrated at all, rather that people are being awful quick to crown him.

Tay is worlds different than KD. Tay is a spot up shooter who's value is almost more on the defensive end. KD has the propensity more to create moreso than Prince ever will. However Tay is probably a more consistent perimeter shooter than KD is at this point.. I don't know I do see some similarities in their games though. They're both long, lanky, and slithery players.

How come we've only had 1 Rashard Lewis comment? That pretty much seems the best right now.

I'm comparing KD to Tayshaun on his best day, while on crack!

I think Prince has more offensive skills than he gets a chance to show playing for the Pistons. He is basically the fourth option on that team, but I have seen games where he is abusing his man, but they stop giving him the ball.

I know it's not a great comparison but I think it's more accurate than Dirk or KG. They can both shoot, they can both handle, and they both have a little post up and in between game. Durant being much stronger in all categories. It's going to be fun to watch how he does. It's too bad he's out on the west coast.

I will go with this comparison.

And Diesel, I agree that Tay's offensive skills are somewhat hidden, but true NBA fans know he has an array of offensive talent.

                          Re: Kevin Durant

I really don't get these comparisons some people make, it's like they have NEVER really seen him play. Rashard Lewis? Dirk Nowitzki? The only comparison I think fits in terms of type of body is Tayshaun Prince, so whomever pointed that out has a good eye, but in terms of overall skill, still quite different.

Other comparisons like Kevin Garnett & Tracy McGrady are not as insane, but still, he's not like these guys even though they might have things in common. I just think that a lot of people haven't really seen him play with regularity, just from a few highlights and a game here and there, and they are way off on the comparisons. Has he made plays where he resembles any of these guys? Yes. Is his overall skill set and play style close to any of these? No, not at all. He's just quite unique.
