Re: Kevin Durant
I said he should have gone number one over Oden and I think that's going to be really clear soon. (And I rate Oden highly)

Re: Kevin Durant
Agreed Born.. if anything, he's a less-rounded Melo with a better outside touch and slightly more height. He certainly has the potential to be a much better shotblocker (Melo doesn't block anything) due to his length, and will probably develop better playmaking skills as he ages... but right now, he's not the total package that Melo is.
He lacks Melo's post game, his refined footwork (especially in the mid-range game), and Melo is a better passer... Melo is also rebounding like a machine this year, and is trailing only Shawn Marion in rebounds per 48 mins among SFs. He also gets to the line more and scores more of his points closer to the basket, which is generally more valuable to a team. KD is a better 3PT shooter by a good amount though, so his eFG% and TS% are better than Melo's, especially this year (Melo hasn't been shooting great at all).
I think that's the most apt comparison of anyone in the league though... both are/were very refined at an early age and have an extremely versatile game for a SF. Melo obviously has the better body at this stage, but KD should grow into it as he gets older, and his length is a big advantage.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
Excellent post, Stumble. Couldn't have said it better. Agreed on all points.
I'd like to add one thing. Durant has post game skills, even though they are mostly turnaround jumpers. Still, with his height and accuracy that is more than enough for an effective post game. His body has to develop before he's able to utilize it. That and his shotblocking should improve with his physical development. He's shown the instincts and skills to do both things well.
I think unlike most players, his development won't be about learning how to play. He's very strange in that he came in to the league with polished professional skills at 19 years old. What he's doing is adding to those skills both as he learns them, and as he grows into his frame.
The only guy I've seen do that is Tim Duncan, but he was a four year senior.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
I still don't know anything about Durant. lol. I've never watched a Thunder game or a Sonics game last year....and I didn't watch much of him in College either. All I know is that he looks wierd...he looks skinny and his arms are long as hell. And he's a good scorer....pretty much all I know. hahaIndianapolis Colts

Re: Kevin Durant
I only got to watch him for one year but I already miss seeing Kevin DurantWatching him put up all these ridiculous numbers makes me think about what could've been up here ... Oh well. It's nice to see that he's being the great player that I always hoped he would be.

Carmelo: I'm The Best Small Forward In West
Carmelo Anthony doesn't think that there is any doubt that he is the best small forward in the Western Conference.
"I'm the only one out here in the West," Anthony said Tuesday. "Can you name one better?"
Anthony wasn't voted in by the coaches as an All-Star reserve after he went down with a wrist injury in early January.
Denver is set to embark on an eight-time road trip that could decide the team's season and help Anthony make people regret that they didn't name him as a reserve.
"This can say a lot about the team, about where we're trying to go and where we're headed," Anthony said. "We go on this road trip, do good and take care of business, it could say a lot."
Someone's going to be eating his words for a loooooonnng time. God help Carmelo if Durant gets any players on his team.Comment

I wish he would have done some crazier stuff in horse. He basically made it a shootout.Comment

Re: Kevin Durant
^^Agreed. But this leaves me to question Durant's athleticism. He threw down a couple nice dunks last night but after seeing that woeful performance in horse (as far as anything requiring athleticism) I have my doubts. He's 6'9 and has like a 7'5 wingspan but he just doesn't seem very athletic at all to me. No real fancy dunks, no real great shotblocks, not many real sudden bursts of athleticsm that leave you wowed.
I mean that between the legs layup was aweful, I could do that. And then when he tried that 360 off the backboard it was real ugly.
