Yea...that was a pipedream. He seems settled in OKC, and has a tight bond w/ Jeff Green and Russ Westbrook.

Yeah, they got a nice nucleus now in those 3 and the chemistry between them is only getting stronger. OKC is going to be an exciting team next year.

And you know what the funny/sad thing about all of this is(including FA): He's only 22 and yet Basketball and continuing to get better is ALL that's on his mind. Hard to find athletes that are like Durant out here. Wish we had more like him TBH.

He's still 21, but I completely agree. Humble, down to earth, and intense when he's on the court. I'm counting down the days until he dethrones LeBron and becomes the best player in the league.

Anyhow, here's an article about his contract extension. Oh, and he signed for less than a max deal, and he didn't need an announcement special to do it. A simple "Exstension for 5 more years wit the #thunder & God is Great, me and my family came a long way ... I love yall man forreal, this is a blessing!" was all. Hopefully OKC's able to do something meaningful with their money.

That's more or less what Lebron, Wade, Bosh, and Melo's original extensions were. There weren't any announcement specials because you have to be pretty stupid not to resign your first contract. I believe there's a huge difference in money unless you're a second round pick.

Yea...it's highly refreshing and makes me like him THAT much more...as if you actually need a reason to like Kevin Durant.

Change that to Kobe and you're absolutely right.

LOL, us Wiz fans were on cloud 9 for a lil after the draft. Given the uncertainty about next year's lockout situation it was a no-brainer. Not that it would have affected a FA of his magnitude but I'm a fan of team loyalty.

This guy is a real example of loyalty and commitment to winning where they gave you a chance. Humble and with much less crap surrounding it, he made the push to make his team a championship team. Way to go Kevin Durant.

Kobe was the same way, see how he was rewarded?

What about you LeBron? I see no championships and bad knees for you.

I'm not sure man. I agree that Durant did it the right way.

However, I do remember Kobe being vilified for his trade demands when things got sour. He did publicly asked for a trade. Sure it wasn't on this kind of scale, but he was torched by media and fans alike.

LBJ did give Cleveland 7 years. He took KG's advice and wanted to try and win a championship with his friends.

Durant is going to be that player everyone turns to when they get sick of the current dominating player. When Kobe was dominating (and doing stuff that turned off people) everyone turned to LBJ as the new "next best" player. Now with LBJ doing the same thing, dominating but doing stuff that fans hate, everyone will turn to Durant.

Hopefully he keeps it up. He's a great kid, no doubt.

Hey, Kobe stayed though and he was rewarded for staying. He may have been an *** about it but in the end, Kobe made the right choice.

LeBron, he made the wrong choice.

He gets to anywhere he wants on the floor and has unlimited range. I guarantee he wins a title before LeHype and supplants him as the "best player" in the league in the next 2-3 seasons.

Many freethrows, a quick release, deep range and Ray Allen like screens comprise that 30 pts homie. Ron is a brick foot defender now, he makes up for that with angles, aggression, awareness and quick, strong hands. A good ball handler can destroy him. See: Brandon Roy.
