ha ha, good one. You honestly think that Pippen 7.9 points a game while barley playing his rookie year would have made a difference? Then the Sonics were the only team smart enough to take Kemp, he probably would have fell to 20.....then they traded Ricky Pierce for Shrempf I believe.....who was a 6th man at the time so I could see that deal possibly happeing. This is all speculation but more then likely Payton, Kemp, and Pippen would've had some Great years together.....

Not saying it was a bad trade but I wouldn't call it a GREAT trade either. If they had gotten Spree for Cassell I would've agreed, but as it stands I don't see much changing.

Wwharton...this is not a shot at you, as I respect your posts and your one of the posters who I'll read each time you post...but I'd be interested in your views after the win in Portland.

I see arena (another poster I like reading) has changed his tune a bit and see's GP having a major impact.

I see this trade as having a major effect because it changes the whole look of the Bucks. As I said, Thomas (who played well v Portland) becomes a better player with a stud PG...Casell and GP create options galore...it just looks good IMO.

I actually responded in another thread but since you asked I'll say the same thing here. I'm really happy and relieved that Cassell and GP could play well together, but I'm still skeptical about the trade making the Bucks "better". Payton's defense is definitely better than Allen but Allen is a great (not good) player and I'd have to say he's a better SG than either Payton or Cassell, even though I'd say Payton is a better player.

So far, with both Cassell and Payton I'd say the Bucks are no better or worse than before the trade, but we'll see what Payton's D does to the rest of the team. I'd also like to see if they can work Mason into the mix better. That's what'd truly make them better but it'd be hard while still finding minutes for Redd, Thomas and Kukoc.

wwharton- you are dead wrong. You'll find out soon enough why. Adding two good to great defenders with the leading assist man in the league with all the 3pt shooting they already have will make them very dangerous. When Payton is motivated.....right now, he will at times will his team to victory, to even say that they aren't better right then they were a few nights ago is funny. We'll find out soon, just don't be surprised when when they are much improved for this season.

way to risky though. For all we know Gary Payton can turn around and re-sign to Seattle. Trading your best and young prospect(he hasn't peaked imo) for someone with a 2 1/2 month contract is stupid.

time will tell about this deal. In the meantime you guys are a playoff contender. If you way out the postives and negatives it debatable on who I would rather have(mason, allen).

Allen's first game out west: 26 pts, 13 boards, 9 assists, 3 steals, 4 threes. We will see. Just don't be mistaken, I'm not taking anything at all away from Payton, I think people are just way too down on Allen. Unless Payton can make a SUBSTANTIAL improvement I'd be against screwing with chemistry. But again I think they thought they could get Spree for Cassell and it didn't happen.

BTW, they still don't have enough D to be "expected" to make the finals. Allen's D isn't horrible...comparing him to Houston in any way is actually funny. Their biggest problem with D is down low.
