Now all he needs is 5 more 40 point games to surpass Wilt the stilt.

I hope he shoots for all the records that he can. Who cares how many championships he wins or whether or not he's a team player unless your a Lakers fan. Individual greatness is highly rewarded in the NBA.

    Ask MJ he'll tell ya

Yup. They're winning while Kobe is on this tear of scoring...leave the guy alone.

I didnt think Phil would say something like this, ""Well, I wasn't sure if Kobe was going to chase that 40 points so bad that he was going to cut our chances out there at the end of the game," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "It got a little tenuous." ...

kobe tied jordan, but neither has the record.

                        Re: Kobe Ties MJ\'s Record

Both Mike and Kobe are superb to accomplished 9 straight 40 pt games, but let's get something straight. Even if Kobe goes on and accomplish 15 straight 40 pts games, what does that prove? Should we hand him the MVP because of that.? There's no excuse for anybody to score 40 pts games in consecutive games, especially on a "so-called" championship-caliber team. I can't read Kobe's mind but you get the sense by watching him that's aiming for the record. The Lakers are beating up on people and everyone makes it seem that if Kobe doesn't score 40, the Lakers lose. Mike did it because HE was the Bulls in 1986-87 in which he ended up averaging 37.1 per game for a 40-42 team.
This is Kobe's Finest hour, but let's not make this something that it's not. Kobe is not the MVP, T-Mac is not the MVP. If that was the case, MIke Jordan would have been MVP evrytime he led the league in scoring (10 times for those who are senial).
