if you could press a "play good" button to perform well every night im sure wed have ALOT more canidates for MVP

    fortunatly, this is real life....
some superstars step up, some dont

yeah because Dirk was invisible in beating the Spurs and leading the Mavs to a finals appearance against Miami... the guy has higher career ppg and rebound averages in the playoffs than in the regular season, but yeah, he's woefully inadequate and doesn't step up

short term memory is a wonderful thing ain't it....

Nope, actually one of the most overrated players in the league.

He has the most dominant post player in the league on his team who flat out does not get enough touches. Houston is at their best when the offense is run through Yao, not McGrady. Period. End of story.

        LOL!

Dirk led the Mavs to a game 7 win IN SAN ANTONIO.

It doesn't get bigger than that.

Some people seem to have only watched the NBA for a season the way they judge Dirk.

He failed v GS...but he's come up huge before.

Mac needs to get at least one series where he gets a team past the first round before anyone starts using the words "great" and "Mac" in the same sentence.

I like him a lot...but he needs to carry a team before he will get any respect. To his credit, he knows that.

true. however its good to have options which is the case with tmac. unfortunately last night, they didnt go to yao enough. i like mike james off the bench but he ignores yao too much and jacks up shots lol

Ah, my short term memory mustve caused me to forget about those championship rings Dirk won!..................or did it? how many does he have now?

Funny, all the examples you gave include instances where Dirk eventually failed to come though for his team

or am I the one with the memory problem?

what are you talking about? Last year if tmac doesn't run the offense for the rox they can't score and thats the end of the story

LOL, wake me up when Mac's finally gotten out of the FIRST ROUND. Come on man, the freakin first round? Mac is one of the most talented players the league has seen but damn, get your team to the second round. Talkin mess on Dirk? At least he's tasted the finals.. where Wade got disgusting calls.. Dirk should have some bling right now.

TMac's never been on a good team in the playoffs.

If you're going to say TMac sucks because he hasn't made it out of the first round you might as well say the same thing about Kobe, since he hasn't done anything playoffs wise without help from Shaq.

He's leading the rankings on NBA.com right now. Actually a pretty good analysis here. I don't think any of it will hold up (except KG) as the season progresses, but it's a good assessment of what's happened so far.

Then if you want to use that logic, T-Mac should have at least gotten out of the first round.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

There is a serious double standard when it comes to Nash. He's playing on a very, very talented roster and people treat him as if he's doen something by never making the Finals every year. Yet guys like Lebron and Kobe get flak when they are surrounded by thirteen scrubs and one decent player. In Kobe's case, not even a one time all star. If anything, that is the beef I would have with Tracy. A lot of excuses are made for him not making it out of the first round, but the fact of the matter is he's had the top center in the West since Shaq left, and has done nothing with it.

I don't label him loser only because of the health problems they've had, but at the end of the day you need at least two legit All Stars to win a chip. I don't even know where the discussion of "win it by himself" came from. No one does that. On the flip side, Nash has more talent than most, and keeps coming up short. Almost lost to a much less talented Lakers squad not too long ago. Definite double standard with him.
