Good points guys, people don't seem to think logically when it comes to assessing certain players.

If anything, that is the beef I would have with Tracy. A lot of excuses are made for him not making it out of the first round, but the fact of the matter is he's had the top center in the West since Shaq left, and has done nothing with it.

I don't label him loser only because of the health problems they've had, but at the end of the day you need at least two legit All Stars to win a chip. I don't even know where the discussion of "win it by himself" came from. No one does that. On the flip side, Nash has more talent than most, and keeps coming up short. Almost lost to a much less talented Lakers squad not too long ago. Definite double standard with him.
That team was without Amare. One of the main contributers was Raja Bell who was serviceable before that. Diaw had not done anything in his time in Atlanta and Barbosa was still not that good. Its remarkable they got as far as they did that year as they lost 3/5 of their starting lineup. By the time they reached Dallas they were just brutalized by injuries and Dallas was legitimately better, but they still gave them a good fight. They lost to San Antonio the other two years, and both year they gave San Antonio a better fight than anyone else. The first time they made it, they played the games close but San Antonio always showed the maturity though the gap closed after Joe Johnson came back (I believe they split games with him back after that brutal injury to his face). It would have been interesting to see how that team did if they didn't decide to blow it up with the departure of Joe Johnson and Q-Rich. Everyone knows what happened the second time and the controversy pertaining to that. All in all the Suns can be seen as a team that has yet to win the big one which is sad because they have the talent, but I maintain they need some continuity. They have essentially had a new team each of the past 3 years, and no other team just assembles itself after one year and makes the playoffs. Jordan's team took years, the Lakers took years, and even the current Spurs and Dallas team didn't just magically win in their first year.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

There are always reasons why people don't win. They haven't won. The knock on the Suns is that they can't dominate half court sets at the highest level on either side of the floor. And so far that's been true.

Personally, I don't think he has a shot for many different reasons. To name a few...

          1. The two superstar theory. When you have a two-man team, the two superstars steal MVP votes from one another, canceling each other out. So, Yao is going to hurt his chances.

          2. No matter how much better T-Mac plays, everyone will say Kobe is better, whether the evidence supports it or not. And most will also say LeBron and Wade are as well (not saying they won't be better than T-Mac this season, but even if they aren't people will still say they are).

          3. McGrady is generally overlooked and underrated in the NBA.

          4. The Rockets play in the toughest division in the league, which will affect their record.

          5. Once averaged 32.0, 6.5, and 5.5 and didn't win it. Last year he carried the team through a Yao Ming injury, had the highest player usage rating, created all the offense in JVG's (non) system, got homecourt in the brutal west, and was never in serious contention for the award.

Guess it's not too far off, but I still think it's pretty early for this talk.

hes a great, just like Dirk is......

but he shows up in big games on a CONSISTENT basis......you never hear about Nash dissapearing after a loss...
