Half-hearted?
The topic of Tracy McGrady came up in the Pistons' locker room before a game last week. McGrady is now injured and unhappy in Houston. Reports there say he has told friends he wants to be traded -- again.
One player, who shall remain nameless, joked that McGrady was becoming more and more like his cousin, Vince Carter. "They should call Tracy, 'half-man, half a season" the player cracked.

Re: Tmac Half-hearted?
Funny story: New Jersey's Josh Boone is a video game devotee who aspires one day to create his own game. But for now, he would like to revise the NBA 2K8 game. It chafes him that he is ranked the worst player on the Nets roster in that game.
"If I have a good enough year this year, if I continue the way I'm going," Boone said, "I may send the producers of the game a little message just to make sure I'm not the worst player on the team next year."
thats funny.
Anyway, im a Tracy fan....but the injury bug hits him often, very often -

Re: Tmac Half-hearted?
That moniker is a bit unfair. Minus this season, Mac's averaged 68 games per season in his career. While not great, that's a lot more than half the season. He's only really missed a number of games in two of his years. This season is yet to be determined, he's missed like 10 or 11 games. Check the numbers.
With all that said, I feel for the dude. He's a good person, ever since I found out he went to Darfur over the summer, and how he wants to help change Africa, I respect that immensely.Comment

Re: Tmac Half-hearted?
Rockets have played really well this past week or so without him.
Too many people here make out the Rockets "other" players are useless...but there's some talent there. Good win at Orlando, going well today at Washington...got close to Boston.
First it was Van Gundy...then the role players...there's always excuses here for why Mac has failed so much.
You all saw the Kevin Garnett interview here that DC posted...he says "man, I'm out there at 80%, I'm out there at 20%, I'm out there man".
Mac simply doesn't have the same heart as KG. Not many do...but you get the feeling that KG, LeBron and co. wouldn't be missing a lot of the games that T-Mac misses.Comment

Re: Tmac Half-hearted?
Dude KG had the same criticisms of not being able to get it done until Sam and Spree came.
Doesn't matter anyhow, and no Tmac doesn't have the same passion as Garnett. Obviously if that's all it took to get you a ring, KG would have plenty, but as HMC stated, KG has a rep for disappearing in the clutch, valid or not.Comment

Re: Tmac Half-hearted?
The Rockets have really shared the ball during this stretch without Mac.
Guys who...according to these forums..."can't shoot", are suddenly scoring.
I wonder why? Maybe it has to do with the fact that they are comfortable getting their shots. Not just standing on the 3 point line, waiting for Mac to run around like a headless chook and then "kick it out" to them with 3 seconds left on the shot clock.
When they brick that shot...sometimes their only shot for the entire quarter...all the Mac guys here come out with "it's his team mates".
Suddenly guys are getting assists...the ball is going to Yao at the right time...and the Rocks are playing like a tem.
I like Tracy...but he's given way, way too much praise here. People have him down as an MVP / Kobe / LBJ level player and he just isn't that.
He needs to come back to this team and be their "X" factor...not their main factor. He needs to score 25 a night within the flow of the offense. Be a part of this team.
No more "off balance 3's when you're shooting 1-7 from downtown and you've got a 7'6 guy in the middle and a guy unguarded in the corner pocket".
Team ball...Comment
