Re: Lebron vs. Kobe?
Im a L.A. fan, so I know people are going to discount anything I say, but honestly I think Kobe is better at both ends of the court on O & D. I think that both of them are the best perimeter players in the league though, giving Kobe a slight edge. I think Lebron could end up being better if he goes to a team and gets some help, its clear he isnt gonna get it done in Clevland. If Im starting a team right now I'd go with Lebron simply because he's younger, so he could give me more years, taking in consideration that he stays healthy.Comment

This shouldn't even be close. LeBron is just better at every facet of the game, plus he's only 23.
LeBron's defense is just as good as Kobe's probably even better. I remember when they faced off in LA and LeBron shut him down when they went at each other. But they both sagged on D for the most part.
To be honest, every scorer in the league plays some lazy defense. This was even true with my boy MJ. Michael won DPOY in, I think '87. From that point he sagged a little each year on D. The same is true with Kobe and LeBron. Why Kobe gets credit for being a 2-way player is laughable. He plays D when he wants to. Just like LeBron and Mike.
I just think LeBron can play exceptional D when he wants to.
The obvious biggest component of going with LBJ, is that he is only 23. That's where this case is closed.Last edited by ThreeKing; 07-23-2008, 06:28 PM.Comment

Re: Lebron vs. Kobe?
Well, personally I'd rather build a team from inside-out and would go with a power forward or center (Duncan, Garnett or Howard). But, to stick with the guidlines of the question and thread I'll answer: I'd choice Kobe.
Yes, Lebron is much younger than Kobe, arguably has a much higher ceiling and is arguably more skilled than Kobe. Yet, I believe Kobe's ability to take over games at will and killer instinct are nearly unmatched by any other current player. Both are tremendously great players and competitors, as well as the two best players in the NBA, but my vote goes to Kobe.San Antonio Spurs 5 - Time ('99, '03, '05, '07, '14) NBA Champions
