It wasnt off base at all actually... it was compeltly relevant to the subject...to me.. and to a couple others as well..

so it appears youve lost this time.

and to calirfy, i said the reason is because its a black dominated sport...different then baseball and football in that respect...(and then i gave my reasosning).
Thats my reason... and it has pretty conrete evidence to support it... would you liek em to go in to detail

now what do you have to add to the discussion other then trying to tell someone else what to say or think?... what are your thoughts OSUFan_88

Fine, believe what you want to believe.

I've already stated what I thought, it's on the first page if you would like to read them.

You're first reason was wrong. No sport has had more problems with their players than football but it's America's #1 sport so people will look the other way. Yes, Chris Henry is a bad person from Monday-Saturday but when he catches a TD pass on Sunday all is forgiven.

Fball is a sport perfectly setup for TV. Frequent breaks, violence, shorter season, and quick action will always make it more popular than the NBA or MLB.

In general, the whole "role model" thing is blown way out of proportion. Any adult who prohibits their kid(s) from watching an NBA game because of a "bad role model" playing is a fool.

Well, I said it as one of many reason.

The biggest reason the NBA gets little respect is because people think the games are fixed.

why would the games be fixed now, and not in the 80's?

            whats the difference?

I think it's probably a mix of what GSW said and that many fans feel the officiating and decisions from the top are biased. I still watch the NBA, but the superstar calls and such lessened my enthusiasm for the league.

And Josh Howard is still a douchebag.

Because the NBA now is trying to live up to the NBA in the 80's.

The 80's will more than likely never happen again with the way the NBA was on top of the world. But they feel the need to try and pump stars up and put them on a pedestal. Which is why you see blatant superstar calls now in the NBA.

Stern and other NBA Executives have this craving of finding the "next Jordan" to save their product. That is why there are so many Kobe or LeBron vs Jordan arguments. Kobe and LeBron are being touted as the next Jordan.

I love basketball, but what David Stern is doing to this sport is just wrong. A good commissioner would have been honest about refs betting the games they were working, but instead Stern keeps spouting off on how he was a "rouge" ref and that there is no other way any other ref could be betting on his games.

I'm not saying Basketball is the only sport that does this, but it's the sport that refs can directly influence the outcome of the game in nearly every game.

The NFL has guys killing people, animals, or drugs, and the fans are still rabid about it

The NBA suffers much more in any of those cases and you know im not lying. Stern just laid some people off Friday blaming the economy....lol

For whatever the reason is, NBA players get scrutinized way more, and the league has lost more respect than those other two sports respectively.
Well first let me say, theres no way of winning a internet "-insert large company here- is evil\corrupt" discussion...so ill just say this.....

There are far more people that still love the NBA then "hate it"...and im not denying at all that there was a image problem...and still is...but there are still alot of people that still respect and are loyal to the league....and are showing it w\ thier money LOL....

                    thats why.

hate to pull the Race car but its true.

in baseball its mostly white players.
football the "best" player sare QB's who are more then often white...the "Leaders"

josh howard is no worse then chris henry on the bengals.. ray lewis , tank johnson, etc etc etc etc ETC.

Football is "Americas game", Baseball is "Americas past time"... and basketball is just the sport where athletic black dudes go show off how superior we are.

Cant speak on everyone but the nba has just as many *******es the nfl does.
Like others have said football is mroe a total team sport then basketball so when a star/quasi/semi star/good player does ro says something stupid it will get blown out of proportion even bigger.

Ray lewis killed someone for christ sakes (or was apart of it) Vick killed Dogs The entire 1980-present cowboy/niner team are a bunch of drugged out coke heads....the minnesotta vikings hade a "love boat" in whihc some females were violated...

so a dude in the NBA talks about weed and says something most every black eprson growing up in amaerica has atleast thoguhton occasion and all the sudden hes a deuchebag?

                    yikes.
                    This guy is right.

What Josh Howard said was stupid, but he didn't rape a woman, didn't murder someone, didn't punch a pregnant woman in the stomach.

The NBA has a smaller margin for player error because of its core of black players.

Re: Why the NBA gets little respect

The image of a young, wealthy African American has been typecast over the last 20 years. Lets be honest...mass media force feeds the world images of un/undereducated rags-to-riches brothers wallowing in hoes, bling, violence and recreational drugs...and those on the outside looking in think that representative of our entire culture. NBA players are unique in that the money that even the scrubs pull in lends itself to frivolous spending, lumping them right in with the minstrels paraded around on BET.

Also football as a sport demands alot more discipline and alot more intelligence, IMO. The process of becoming a pro footballer weeds alot of the knuckleheads out. I feel bad for Hoculi, but blowing a football call is MUCH bigger than blowing an NBA call, considering how precious scoring opportunites are in football, and how few games their are...he needed to make an apology. The hate mail is hilarious tho...

First off, the title and topic was taken from somewhere else. I made that clear that it was not my thought.

I said its the lesser of the top 3 leagues, and it is. That's not opinion at all, thats fact.
