Good luck trading junk. The way he has criticised Brown also has dropped his value way down. As a GM, it was hardly a wise move to publically say day after day guys haven't got heart etc!

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

They sure got plenty of offers for him this year.

A 20 year old number one pick will always get something.

What was offered anyway? Just guys coming off contracts...not much else.

There was a rumour Edddie Curry was offered, which IF true...looks even worse for MJ as Curry has started to look pretty good.

Think about this, at season end the Wiz will lose their best player (MJ) + possibly lose Stack for nothing (he can opt out) and have very little cap room. All of that is MJ's creation.

When he had the number one, he could have traded it and dumped salaries (White, Laettner). The number one is a GIFT.

      Again, great player. Poor GM.

I am not criticising him personally. My fav player of all time is Magic, but he sucked as a GM / Coach also

              Doc -

What's up with attacking another poster for how he chooses to phrase things?

His posts are about basketball. Your posts are about how you dislike the phrasing someone is using. Stop it.

You don't like the thread? Don't post on it.
You've got a basketball point to make? Make it.

What are you people talking about? Brand was the number 1 pick in the 1999 draft by the bulls, Brown was the number 1 pick in the 2001 draft by the wizards.

                      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Brand was offered to the Wiz for the Number one pick.

                      They declined.

He was then offered to the Clips for the number 2 pick. They did the deal.

                      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hmmm, didn't realize that. But of course it makes perfect sense. Why wouldn't they try to get number 1 before getting number 2. Either way, I don't fault the wiz for not making that deal. They were in rediculous cap hell. They made trades and dumped salaries and are barely above water now. Brand would've been a hired gun b/c they wouldn't have been able to pay him.

One argument could be made that maybe they should've taken Chandler instead of Brown but it's still too early to tell. The Wiz have been trying to make the playoffs for 2 years straight while the Bulls have been rebuilding...takes a lot of pressure off of a kid. And remember a fellow first round pick, Jeffries, started playing real well before being shelved for the season. Jordan's right in his attack on his team but they still have a dim light for the future. Jordan, Laettner, Oakley and Russell are gone. They still have a nucleus of Brown, Jeffries, Dixon, Hughes, Haywood and Stack if they keep them all with another pretty good pick coming. Considering the mess he came into, I wouldn't say Jordan's done THAT bad.
