My question is what the hell is Dumars thinking? During the summer there was a purposed deal for Melo, but they kept saying we had to take Iverson. Dumars said no. He would've took Camby instead, they said no. I know Dumars wanted a pure scorer, but u don't give up a big body guard like Billups in exchange for a little guard like Iverson. Other question, what number is he gonna wear? Stuckey wears number 3.

Also you have to understand what Joe is actually doing. This is the best thing he could have done. He realized that the Pistons are not going anywhere this year and he traded away a overpaid underachiever for a an EXPIRING CONTRACT in AI that along with Wallace also in his last contract year gives this 33 MILLION DOLLARS IN CAP ROOM to sign who ever the hell they want next year.

The problem with sports fans is that they always think their team is winning a championship somehow. The Pistons are stagnant and their 04 run was really just a fluke and a product of being in one of the worst divisons of all of sports. Honestly you can be 5-10 games under .500 and still get into the play offs in the East. Billups hasnt done a damn thing since that run, either has Prince (NEWS FLASH HE ISNT THAT GOOD OF A DEFENDER! Danny Granger lit him up for 33 just last week) this is a great deal for the future. A great deal.

Get rid of these old bums on your team whos game is always suspect and start rebuilding with young talent for the future. This is how you do it...get cap room and get young talent that can produce.

Horrible horrible trade for Detroit... I am in shock at this trade.. Why would Dumars do this?? Do the Pistons think that highly of Rodney Stuckey?? AI is not going to make this team win...

As long as he is the same Billups that's been playing for the Pistons.......this is a steal for the Nuggets.

Don't get me wrong, AI is still a very solid player, but defensively and offensively I feel Chauncey is on a higher level.

McDyss is an eh thing coming from a Denver perspective.


As for AI fitting into the Pistons, we will see.

I don't see how anyone's sleeping on AI. His resume is well known. The bottom line is, does he make them better than Boston? That was the issue last year. Detroit was competitive with Boston, but not good enough to be better. If Iverson doesn't help them beat Boston then this trade doesn't change anything except the popularity of Detroit in 2k9.

here's my basketball logic going top work

Billups isn't what he used to be and Iverson has to find another way to play the game now.

Going to Denver just makes Melo better. Billups will understand his role now and just pass the ball to the new haircut guy.

McDyess is a off the bench forward for when Melo loses steam.

Just like in denver iverson AGAIn has to adjust to another players style that won't change. Rip's TOO proven at what he does to change his game so iverson has to. Rips got achampionship under his belt iverson doesn't and it seems this trade won't get him one.

i would have dealt iverson BACK to philly for miller and dalembert. that wouldn't made both teams great....

This way this trade just fits one team better and thats Denver.


BUT stackhouse and hailton are all stars and having ANOTHER all star doesn't hurt but i can't see the Pistons bench being any better now with the loss of both billups and Mcdyess....

I think Iverson will be pretty good in Detroit, atleast I think he certainly won't hurt them. It's not like Billups was a super efficient scorer anyways. Plus it's the East. I know they have the defending champs but still. East. We talkin' about the East.

If the Pistons '04 championship was a fluke in your eyes, then what do you call their run to get right back there the very next year and force a Game 7 against the heavily-favored Spurs? And despite the regular season record or the type of competition in the East, the Pistons still had to beat a 60+ win Pacers team that was favored to reach the Finals over them in a 7-game series. That's not a fluke run by any means.

And to call Billups trash? LOL!

Do you not understand what the Pistons could do with 33 MILLION Dollars in cap space? Its not for this year its for the future.

Joe realized that there is no hope for the Pistons to win with the group they have and decided to his team in the best position for the future because the only other team that has that amount of money is the Grizz. And if its comes down to a bidding war Detroit will win hands down because no one wants to go to the Grizz to play.

Stop thinking that this is a video game and that anyone can win at anytime. Billups isnt that good nor is Prince, Dyes was solid but old. This now frees up playing time for the young guys to get some experience for next year. You will see Amir Jonhson and Max improve greatly for next year. Pair them up with 2 soild top quality players out of FA and we now can make a championship run again.
