AI is getting traded because he wants to play for championship contender. Denver is not. they dont play a lick of defense and had conflicts on who there true #1 guy is down the stretch. remember they were an 8th seed last year and got swept by the Lakers with this current squad(even with camby).

Billups is getting traded because Dumars knows he needed to shake up this team. they were not better than Boston with thier current. also, Billups is not what he used to be a couple of years ago. his defense has been lackluster at times and he has been getting injured more often. they also will free up over 30 million in cap space after this year.

Detroit is a contender in the east. they only have to get past Boston.

If it's not, then they let him go and sign any free agent they want.

So in other words he was traded for as a gamble and cap space, not because he's some behemoth star that will take them over the top

Wow. So, Iverson wanted to be traded from the Sixers because he wanted to go to a contender. The Sixers were willing to do it because they wanted to move on from his contract, his attitude and how he played on the court.

Two years ago, he goes to a contender in Denver to play with Melo. AI's fanboys were oh so sure everything would work out and were ready to pound their chests.

Two years later, a few games into this season, he is traded because he supposedly wants to go to yet another contender. And once again...Denver were willing to do so surely to get something in return for that over $20 mil AI makes in an expiring contract, conflicts within the team and how he played on the court.

barkley, garnett, emmit smith, jerry rice, clyde drexler, gary payton, deion sanders, junior seau................. and so on.

Emmit Smith? Not really.

AI is not going to win a championship this year. Too many teams better than the Pistons this year.

He will be released shortly.
