I know the Lakers weren't serious about trading Kobe but Cuban wouldn't even hear of making that trade for Dirk. Then this past offseason they had a shot at Artest for at least Dampier and Terry and they blinked.

lol an "enforcer"? that is so cliche

what they need are more people that can play the game of basketball. It's not MMA or football.

btw, what top players are "enforcers"? Im curious

As for trading Dirk, what do you trade him for? You won't get picks since Dirk would elevate any team into playoff position. You're not getting a "young stud". At best you'll get some average young players or an expiring contract.
I agree. They wouldnt be able to get equal value for him at this point and Dallas would probably be a lottery team instantly if they traded Dirk. Dallas has a first round pick this season, but they dont have a 1st round pick next season...and like you said, the team they trade Dirk to probably wouldnt have a low pick anyway after Dirk upgraded their team.

Dallas needs to do the best they can with this group imo. They need to make some moves and tweak the team, but not "blow it up" at this point imo. They are probably still a playoff team with this group, despite their poor start. The Mavs arent contenders, but they arent going to be a lottery team either.

In two seasons, they will be in good shape to rebuild the team with their salary cap and draft picks. Until then, they need to do the best they can with the core they have imo.

Ha! I mean besides JJ "lockin it down" Reddick

Reddick is clearly HARDCORE, especially with the splinters

seriously? Where did you hear that?

what I heard is that it was either Artest for Howard straight up or nothing.

Yeah man, we agree on this.. and yep that core. Same as I said, move Dirk then move em all.

I dont think Wade destroyed the team single-handedly, but that was their best shot and he did destroy that.

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!

I'm sorry ZB9 but I don't see Dallas making the playoffs this year. The West is getting tougher and tougher and in order for Dallas to keep up they need to either bring in a low post scorer or a perimeter defender. That Jason Kidd trade was a panic move imo.

If they are going to trade Dirk they need to do it this year. The league is very young and very talented and I think Dallas can get good/great players or draft picks for Dirk

they would probably be better off missing the playoffs this year, because they do have a pick this year. They arent going to be a true contender this season even if they do make the playoffs.

However, i would bet they will make the playoffs as a 5th-8th seed. Their record is terrible right now, but they will end up top 8 in the west imo. It's a very long season obviously, and Dallas will get better as the season goes on and they get organized.

I dont think they could get equal value for him. They shouldnt trade him just for the sake of "change"

He is still a top 10 player in the NBA imo and possesses a rare skillset.

I think its time to blow the team up personally....and I have a feeling it will be soon...Im thinking Howard will go before Dirk though.

I'd like to see him on the Bulls too. They'd have to find a way to ship out Deng and Gordon. Those guys aren't ready to step back and let the rook Rose be the leader, and its hurting their club. Dirk would be the primary scorer, but I don't think he would let his ego get in the way of deferring to the kid when necessary.

Dirk, Rose, Nocioni, Noah, Thabo, I think those guys would work well together the latter 3 doing the dirty work, and Dirk and Derek shouldering the offensive load. I haven't seen Hughes play with Rose so I don't know how he fits. I think Kirk would settle in and find his niche with this group too.

Dallas really needs to get a top 5 pick somehow and build around whatever youngster they think can be the centerpiece for a new direction.
