What does a four seed matter when the top 3 teams in the West are SO much better than the rest? Are we having a discussion about winning a ring, or just getting deep into the playoffs? Cuz if the Mavs just want to get to the WCF and lose, then yeah, they can "tweak" to that.

I hear ya on the Lakers, but I dont think the Mavs are as behind the Hornets and Spurs right now by as much as people think. Everyone is chasing the Lakers imo, even with what happened to Bynum.

Btw, look at how the Mavs offense has played the past three games since Carlisle has stopped calling most of the plays and turned that over to JKidd...Kidd has been calling 80 percent of the sets and really running the offense and the results have been great. It's a small sample but it will be interesting to see how they continue

You haven't painted a scenario how they can tweak to a championship before Dirk is out of his prime. How can they get better than the Lakers, Cavs, Magic and Celtics in the next two-three years?

IMO, putting Bosh with Dirk isn't going to cut it. At all. Especially since Kidd will be done and Terry will be declining. Now I'm not saying they should definitely trade Dirk. I'm saying they should explore every situation to make themselves a real championship team within three years, and if they can't do that, then they should have some foresight and trade him when they can get something really nice(and younger) for him.

Dallas' "core" is playing great. What the Mavs need is more consistency from their "role players". They need better depth, although the rotation and the role guys are starting to come around moreso. Antoine Wright, Brandon Bass, and Barea are really starting to fill their roles well, believe it or not. Carlisle's rotation has improved.

Dallas can become contenders for a top 4 seed imo this season by "tweaking"..and in the playoffs, anything can happen if they can avoid the Lakers. I think the Mavs can beat the Spurs or the Hornets (not saying they would, but that they "can", even though the odds would be against it). This Mavs team is certainly going to be better than they were last season.

If the Mavs get an offer they cant refuse, im sure they will consider it...but again, they want to get better, not worse. The Mavs arent going to blow it up just for the sake of blowing it up.
