        Re: Anthony Randolph

Q: What does Randolph have to do to get more steady playing time?

-NELSON: Just be more steady. You know, he knows what he’s supposed to do. He should be more consistent. We don’t forget that he’s 20. You guys do, sometimes.

-Q: Would you be opposed to any talk about trading Randolph?

-NELSON: I’m not going to comment on any stuff in the paper.

        -Q: Do you like him?

        -NELSON: I like Randolph, yes.

-Q: Do you want to keep him?

-NELSON: Of course. He’s my guy. I like him. You know that. You don’t know that?

-Q: What things beyond his statistics affect his playing time?

-NELSON: Just the gradual progress of learning how to play, progression, learning the game. And he’s actually doing just fine.

-Q: This year, how has his attitude been, his work ethic?

-NELSON: He’s OK. Yeah, he’s OK. He’s had some periods where he gets down or whatever. But then he pops back. He’s fine. I enjoy him, actually. Enjoy watching him get better.

-Q: Randolph is still mostly a center?

-NELSON: I think that’s the easiest way for him to get minutes and kind of understand… and then I think eventually he’ll be able to play more than one position. But that’s way too early right now.

When we get our centers back, and I hope the experience he gets at the 5 will carry over and he’ll be a better 4 for me.
Don Nelson was back. He was in a fairly good mood at his pre-game presser, but didn’t expound much on the Anthony Randolph situation or even acknowledge (or confirm) that there was a situation. Oh well. He insisted he liked… Continue Reading →

I believe so. A lot of fans want Avery Johnson since he is the only coach documented to be able to clean up the mess Don Nelson leaves behind but who knows. This organization is bad news.

For the record, I like Nellie. I also think he's a hilarious throwback with a fat drunk Irish head and that makes me laugh. He's the only Doug Moe type left in the league and I love him for it.

Nellie reminds me a lot of my old coaches... i like the way he coaches...even though i think he too heavily relys on the "underdog" system

I like how he COACHES...tough love...weed out the losers.

Here are some excerpts from an article from 1994. See if you see any similarities 15 years later.

Coincidence? Keep buying that snake oil Nelson is selling you. It doesn't work.

                  LOL.

u cant win vs an anti nellie guy. doesnt matter if he tells the truth or not...theyll always find a way to hate.

newsflash this is 2009 not 1994.

the webber situation was completly different...Completly...people just liek to bring it up because he was the best player that had been traded by nellie up until that time.

Webber refused to play Center...then theeier personalities butted heads...Nellie wasnt going to cater to the primadonna young player...then it reached a bubbling point...Webber was/is weak minded....Randolph is NOT...he took Nellie head on...

Nellie LOVES him...if you see his body language towards him you would see this...he LOVES him...

he has already gone ON RECORD in saying that was probably a mistake trading him webber...although its not like webber ever won anything...and thats not a knock on webber really...i like the guy.

Randolph is 20 ****ing years old...he is raw and needs time to develop...put your conspiracy theory books down.

You keep convincing yourself that Nelson is so in love with him and watch him get dealt. You can refute it all you want. This is history repeating itself. Your right, its not '94, and thats what makes it worse that he is pulling this same B.S. again with another young guy he is trying to play head games with. If its not Randolph, its Brandon Wright. Before that it was Monta.

The situation is different because Webber was on a playoff team, other than that, its same ol' Nelson. And if he "loved" him so much, why would he allow the team to announce that they are fielding trades with his name involved. Do you think they snuck that little bit of juicy info out to the media without Nelson knowing? Isnt that like saying you love your wife, only for her to find out you been talkng to a lawyer to set up the divorce. Kind of shady huh? Kind of like Nelson.

I have already posted articles, interviews, etc. to put all your "Nelson is not the problem" talk to rest. You seem to think that all the beat writers, columnists, and reporters locally and nationwide, who are paid to follow this team for 6 months out of the year, that speak of the confusion and drama that ALWAYS surrounds Nelson, are all wrong? I understand that you support the squad, are a good fan, and hope for a turnaround, but please don't try to minimize the track record of Nelson.

Nelson is a liar, a quitter and worse of all, a charlatan by the way he quits on teams and then forces them to pay him "walk away" money after he leaves like he did in Dallas. You seem too smart of a dude to be falling for this "I love him" act. He loved S.Jackson too. He's a Bobcat now. For some reason, all these guys he "loves" either fall out of love with him, or the love was never really there to begin with. Nelson is playing chess with these love comments. He has to say that so when he is dealt folks look at Randolph like he is the a-hole as opposed to good ol Nelson who had to trade him to get rid of an unhappy player. Just like Webber in '94. Just like Jackson this year and Harrington last year. This is Nelson's act. Playing the role of "the coach who is just misunderstood" by his ways of coaching.

I could care less about Don Nelson one way or another, but IMO, it takes a special brand of moron to think giving Randolph a regular role in the front line rotation is going to help his consistency. Your team sucks. Just throw the kid out there. Having him sit and watch Radmo and Mikki Moore is just plain stupid.

It also doesn't help that this team has extremely shaky vet leadership. The better players on this team seem to be too concerned with their own issues to act as a buffer between Nellie and Randolph. Randolph could use a trusted veteran to take responsibility for staying on top of him on the floor, like Bron does for Hickson and Twan does for Blatche, another inconsistent big man.
