    Glen Davis

I want to see what the glen davis haters have to say about the way he played last nite.

He really impressed me and played the way i knew he had the potential to play and honestly he WILL be the X factor when it comes to the celtics championship hopes in the playoffs.

He's a big body and he moves well 4 his size, plus he can hit the midrange jumper. Not to mention the fact that he draws alot of charges. But even tho he'll only get 20 min a game in the playoffs with garnett i think how he plays will determine if they can get past the cavs

He's a role player and always will be one while approaching chucker status.

As for him being an X factor on this team in the playoffs; I don't see it happening.

You have to love the NBA board.

The OS NBA Board: Where role players become stars, below average starters All Stars, and lower All Stars are all time greats

When I saw "the way he played last nite", I was thinking a 13/16 for 32 points and 16 rebounds against Dwight Howard.

A thread over a 6-12 for 18 points and 2 rebounds against the Pacers? It's come to that?

I thought Wallace was only out 6 weeks?

If so, then he should be ready by the ECF, should he not?

He can't hit the mid range jumper. He thinks he can but he can't. Yeah he has games where he makes them but its not consistent.

Scalabrine is the best big man backup on that team, sadly.

Statistically, he hits 33% of his mid-range shots. He also shoots 62% of his shots from there so you are right on all 3 points.

Teams will give him that jumper. He has to take it. If he doesn't then teams can flat out double any cutter and curler.

He has definitely been working on that jumper. I don't think he's an X factor, but each day you can see improvement. He works really hard in practice, and off the court to become the best player he can possibly be. Believe it or not, Big Baby is in great shape.

One gripe I have with him is he really doesn't look to pass...ever. That is, unless he's triple covered.

He's a ball stopper and a chucker. Once he gets the ball he shoots it. It's sad really. He thinks he's a lot better than he really is

Eh, kind of. I wouldn't say he thinks he's better than he is, but he tries to do a lot more than he's capable of.

                        Re: Glen Davis

The thread is unwarranted, but so are comments like "chucker" and "thinks he's better than he really is." Baby is a quality role player.

The Celtics don't play him out of necessity, if the coaching staff wasn't pressuring him to add the midrange jumper to his game, they'd take him out when he shoots it.

He doesn't get enough touches to be a ballstopper nor enough shots to be a chucker. The majority of the time he's out there he sets screens and fights on the glass and plays quality defense.

If the primary ballhandler draws the D and swings it back out to him at 12-17 feet, it adds value for him to be able to hit that. The jumper has progressed over the last month so the stats don't tell the story.

                          Re: Glen Davis

Considering the fact that he's 6'9 and around mid-high 200 lb range and he 12-14 away from the basket taking jumpers? Yea I say the term "chucker" is definitely warranted in this case.

But then again, the thread itself is unwarranted after the OP made a big deal out of somebody getting 18 and 2 against the Pacers.

                            Re: Glen Davis

He's more like 6'7 and the jumper at that range is what the coaches encouraged him to add to his game in order to get minutes. They want him taking that shot.

Maybe your interpretation of chucker is the issue. IMO a chucker shoots up a bunch of shots regardless of the rhythm of the offense and is most often a black hole. Neither description fits Davis.
