Re: 3/16-3/22 NBA Discussion
Rafer Alston wasn't the main reason at all, but he was a good one being Houston's 3rd scoring option.
Saying he is the main reason for the trouble is like giving him credit for ORL winning games.
At best Rafer is streaky, and normally he's inconsistent and shoots at the 30% level. He's had quite a ew of those 3-12 days in ORL, which is easier for them to recover from because of all the weapons they have.... but when you have guys like Ryan Bowen Juwan Howard, Mo Taylor and Jake Tsakilidis as main guys on your squad you are doomed.. I dont care if Wilt was starting.Comment

Re: 3/16-3/22 NBA Discussion
Huh? This is basically what I was saying. Some people act as if they know that Skip was the only reason why they would ever lose. Some people ignore that HOU is doing better without not just Skip, but another player as well.
ORL isn't suffering from Skip's suckiness. Like Pack said these same people seem to want to pin the blame on someone.Comment

Re: 3/16-3/22 NBA Discussion
Tmac Ron and Shane were all hurt at the beginning of the year, Yao had no backup and the offense and defense wasnt there...
Screw blaming someone because the team won 22 straight games with both Rafer and McGrady in the lineup. All of these notions being thrown around here in certain posts and indirect shots are getting childish.Comment

Re: 3/16-3/22 NBA Discussion
Well I wasn't posting that for no reason. I could go back and quote those people I was talking about but I'll leave that alone.
It's getting to the point where every time the Rox win, I check the weekly thread and it's "thank God so and so is gone, it's so nice to not have that chucker screwing up the offense".Comment

Re: 3/16-3/22 NBA Discussion
I don't disagree but you have to remember that a inkling of a small portion of residue from cf seeps over here and that place ihasbecome a cesspool make no mistake about it.
It goes both ways though, saying theyre better without such and such or whatever is old and childish and chiming in on what someone on another team is doing equally.
These game threads have become unenjoyable to read at times, and a couple have been locked already.
When the playoffs come the tolerace level is going way down.Comment

Sorry bud... but that wasnt indirect. You and everyone knew what I was talking about, and it was a definite statement of fact.
That is exactly what happened in Houston with Rafer Alston as the 3rd option and frankly you know exactly what I meant.
Time to cut out the crapComment

Re: 3/16-3/22 NBA Discussion
It is a notion of blame. How can you be against blaming players, but blame Rafer?
Rafer's role is not supposed to be as a third scoring option. If injuries or bad GMing make that fall into his plate, that's not his fault. His role is to distribute the ball, run the team, control the tempo and apply ball pressure on defense.
Houston's inconsistency with injuries has been the main problem for their issues, and a lack of a third scoring option OR more shooting specialists would be another. What you're saying makes it sound like having Skip causes a team to lose, when Orlando disagrees with that assessment. Coach Van Gundy was happy to have Skip in Miami, and he's happy to have him back in Orlando. The other Van Gundy, Hubie Brown, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, Mark Jackson and plenty others all think that Skip can help a team win. Yet here you are blaming him for Houston's troubles, when they have 25 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds coming up lame on the bench, 25 points and 9 rebounds breaking his leg every year, and the rest of their team is 6'6".Comment

Again ORL is an entire different dynamic, but lets not place Rafer in the hero book. He wasn't a failure, but he wasn't that great either. Those two injured lames that you mention have been the only reason HOU has been significant over the years.Comment

Re: 3/16-3/22 NBA Discussion
Yeah, I'm going to be brave and wear my Dwight Howard jersey tonight. I'm going with my friend, Mike, who is a huge Cavs fan and he will be wearing his Mo Williams jersey. Quite the odd pair, I'd say.
I actually splurged and got some pretty good seats (section 100, 5 rows from the floor) so I'm going to head up there right now and get a head start on the beers.
Win or lose though, I'm just hoping for a good, close game.Comment
