Basically, I guess what I'm trying to get at is has there EVER been a "10/10" or "5/5" Player in the League since Jordan left the game or is the "Complete Player" title just a myth like the "Shut Down Corner" title is in the NFL?

And no, you can't count 9.5/10 or 4.5/5 as being Complete because...well it wouldn't be complete lol.
those 4 criteria hardly define "complete". There's so much more to what makes a basketball player complete.

I watched plenty of film of 70's hoop "Classic" games... and i disagree it wasnt better.

Not really. The big scoring games Kobe has had, have come because they made the rule changes that cracked down on hand checking.

I agree. Id like to enjoy these guys for what they are but I can only do that if someone stops comparing people to Jordan. There are a lot of good players in the league who are exciting but the Jordan comparisons need to stop. The guys career was a series of heroic events.

Im not sure what that means exactly. No one is saying Kobe is garbage but if you look at his stats, his 2 biggest PPG seasons came with in 2 or 3 years of the rule changes that cracked down on hand checking.

That wouldnt surprise me at all. Im not sure the demographic that watched Jordan and Rose are even close to the same. I think a lot of people who were fans of the NBA when Jordan played have since lost interest.

No he wouldn't. You're 24. You don't even know what hand checking was like.

Please educate yourself first, before you start coming with a strong opinion.

EDIT: Hand checking rule came in 1994. You were 9 years old. How the hell can you determine Kobe would ball back then???

1997-1998 was when the NBA prohibited forearm useage also.

Read the damn Jordan Rules. They straight kicked his *** when he went to the cup.

I hate having to keep educating these younguns.

What people fail to realize was that the Bad Boyz existed because of Jordan. After one game where Jordan went off for 59 points against the Pistons, Daley out of desperations came up with this brutal style of play that effectively redefined what a foul was. And in the process of redefining what a foul was, they won two world championships because of this style of play. So basically, Jordan was largely responsible for the Pistons two world championships to go along with the 6 with the Bulls. Plus he redefined what a foul was. Put another way, Jordan was so good that the NBA had to allow teams to foul more to give them a chance. In a league without Jordan but with Kobe Bryant (the latest iteration of the hand check rules were in 2004...this was when the rules had teeth) the league had to enforce/enact rules to enhance scoring. For Jordan they made it harder but for Kobe they made it easier and Jordan still outscores Kobe, especially when you look at FG %s. Kobe's only shooting 44ish% at a time when its a lot easier to score.

But Kobe, to his credit, has said numerous times that he wishes to not be compared to Jordan. He has actually said its not fair to hold guys that followed to that kind of standard. But the problem is television likes to hype the current guys and so they will trot out ridiculous comparisons. It really isnt fair. I had to get past the Jordan era myself. I wasnt liking the NBAs product for a while but its improved a lot lately. They just need to stop with the Jordan comparions though. Do you want to know why neither Kobe or Lebron are better than Jordan? Its because theres a debate. By the time Jordan finished playing debate was scarce. Comparisons ceased.

Good job, Pack. This thread is now mission accomplished. Until they start making T-1000 robot clones using MJ's DNA, no one in the history of history will ever be able to come remotely CLOSE to Jordan Christ.
