After he became a soft players yes...Before 2002 I would say Toronto was a team that could contend in the East.

Anyways, this thread isn't about Toronto, so i'll drop it...

Re: who REALLY wants a ring?

I've come to the belief that nobody TRULY WANTS a ring, unless you're some aging vet whose career is nearing it's end and just wants a ring just to say they have one.

we were only able to come to a list of 11 & here it is in no paricular order:

          LeBron James
          Kobe Bryant
          Tim Duncan
          Kevin Garnett
          Paul Pierce
          Ray Allen
          Dwayne Wade
          Chauncy Billups
          Yao Ming
          Chris Paul
Brandon Roy (his playoff performance, demeanor & interviews extended the list to 11)

we honestly couldn't think of anyone else that we would add to this list with confidence.

          your thoughts?

i guess i forgot to state... players that ONLY have CHAMPIONSHIPS in mind and feel incomplete if they don't reach that goal each season...

Re: who REALLY wants a ring?

Its a wonder to assume whats in a players heart and then just say oh well they dont want it they dont play hard

Im sure a guy like Joe Smith wants a ring just as bad as "Brandon Roy" You're confusing talent with desire.

Championships arent just won by individuals. It takes alot to bring a ring to a team.. and that stems from management on down to the bench.

I've never seen a guy say get me off of this playoff team, I'd rahter just get my money, maybe except Rasheed Wallace who told the media he doesnt care about what the organization says as long as they CTC

Re: who REALLY wants a ring?

I'm sorry but this thread is ridiculous. How can you measure "desire" and how much someone "wants" to win a title? Just by looking at them and gauging their reactions?

                Implausible scenarios and unmeasurable metrics.

                  That's true, it is impossible.

Regarding role players, that is a good point as well

The truth is EVERBODY wants a ring - sportsmen are competitors. Can't imagine it being any different.

I would have said McDyess, but he had a good shot at it last year and re-signed with the Pistons.

I don't think that was the topic at all. Though it's faulty to start out with, it's not about 11 people only wanting rings. I believe his original idea was to try and pick out who wants to win the most. After thinking about it, it's way too hard to differentiate between everyone.

Joe Johnson wanted to be THE man on a team, that's why he left I believe.
