Kobe is not the next MJ
As i watched the final game versus the Spurs. I expected to see Kobe Bryant explode in the second half and lead his team to vicotry as Jordan did in '98 when he got the game winning shot in the finals or 97 when he had the flu. Instead we all got to see what appeared to be Vince Carter syndrom. A man with all the potential in the world but a heart too weak to support it. Kobe deferred first to Shaq and then somehow (unbelievably) to Jannero Pargo. Congrats to the Spurs on a great game, but Kobe who made me a believer in the 2003 all star game (even though that was the worst call EVER in the history of the nba) with the free throws to force double OT, will have to redeem himself in the future and show more of his MJ side than his Vince Carter one.Tags: None -

Re: Kobe is not the next MJ
first off, Kobe is not the next MJ. no one will be. second, Shaq is the one lacking heart. this guy goes around boosting he's the best and would rather make commercials than gettng his fat *** on a treadmill. he's ONLY 31!! you've go uys like MJ & Lance Armstrong who were (are) doninating their respective sports at his age or older and show more heart. what a waste....I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...Comment

Becoming the next MJ does not mean being as good as MJ skill wise anyway. Being the MJ, in my mind, would be a player who makes an impact so big in the NBA that he separates himself from the other players in the NBA and becomes someone that is used to promote greatness (example: he/ she is the Michael Jordan of ...) That is being the next MJ. Not only only setting a standard but becoming it. Therefore it is necessity for people like Kobe to be compared first to Mike and before becoming himself the new standard, MJ was first constantly compared Dr.J.
As for Kobe's heart, if you saw the game, you'd know or already know what i was talking about. I've seen Kobe b4 this time he didn't even look like he wanted to be on the court.Comment

you talk about this one game, talk about all the other games where kobe showed he had heart. i swear, alot of basketball fans look at 1 game and it sways their opinion so much. one minute kobe is their favorite player, and then he messes up and all of a sudden they hate him. i mean, id understand if it were a bunch of games but it was only 1 game. look at all the other times he brought his team back and he stepped up in the playoffs, do you remember game 5 of the series? and hes only 24, he still has alot of growing up to do. but i agree with you that he is not the next MJ.Comment

Thats exactly right, I am talking about one game, but remember what i said, i mentioned that Kobe has all the potential in the world. And its obvious that if i've started a thread on this subject that I believed that he could be the next MJ. But MJ was MJ because of what he did when the game/season was on the line. I will never say that Kobe has NO heart, I did mention those free throws at the All Star game, If you remember THE WHOLE ARENA was booing him and booing LOUD i mean damn... Jordan got what was supposed to be a game winning shot and Kobe single handedly (with the refs but they dont count) erased that shot now that is heart but the kind of heart that i said Kobe didnt have is the kind of heart that MJ has, to be down by 20 in game 6 of the playoff and play as if you he were down by 2. Kobe has more heart than most but not the legends he is still young he can still redeem himself and shut his critics up though and god willing he will.Comment
