Turk is a good player, but his contract is a joke. He's borderline worth $10.6 million now, but in the last 3 years of his contract, he's going to be a joke for that money.
          Agree w/ everything said here.

So we can all agree that the thread title is um a little farfetched.

I believe there is something else playing a role in his leaving when you look at the type of lineup they could put out there I couldn't just see leaving a winning team like that for a couple mil.

I still think Orlando will be rack back in the hunt for the Eastern conference with the team they have now. People are really underestimating what Vince can bring to this team and he is an upgrade over Turk. I also think people are forgetting about how good Pietrus was in the playoffs and what he could bring if he stays healthy. That man has some skills and can guard whoever the other teams best perimeter threat is. Alston won't be missed much cause a healthy Nelson is by far a better option than Rafer. There still isn't an answer for Dwight and they only man in the East that could stand a chance of slowing him down is Perkins. If they stay healthy they will still be a major force.
Turk had a player option to terminate his contract. He was set to make around 9 million if he stayed. The fact that ORL went out and traded for Carter prevented ORL from signing Turk to an extension. Like I said before, ORL chose VC over Turk.

IMO it had nothing to do with not liking the organization, he was just trying to get one last huge contract. He obviously doesn't care about getting a title, which you can't blame him.

They lost Turk because ORL traded for Carter. I agree that it may be better to take on VC's contract over what they would have had to pay Turk. We shall see though.

Gortat's value is crazy because he's a center. Not many of those left anymore, and he showed a lot of flashes all season and through the playoffs. Don't really know too much about his personality so I can't say he'll stay hungry after he gets paid.

IMO, all of this means nada until Dwight learns at least one post move.

I don't know which player you were watching, but Dwight's got some moves. He just doesn't have superstar moves (Tim Duncan, KG, etc.)

                    Whatever you say.

And someone remind him he is stronger than everyone out there and should probably use that to his advantage.

I got to disagree with you here. Turk came out and said he was opting out of his contract right after the finals was over. I mean he didn't even let the loss set in before decided to opt out. Orlando stated before the finals was over that they wanted him back. They made the move for Vince to take a shot at the ring now and lessen the blow if Turk does decide to leave. They knew he was more than likely not coming back so they had to do something. I mean Turk never said he was coming back or really wanted to come back a single time.

Yah but the point being in all of this is that he was looking to get paid. That's why he was dead set on opting out.

IMO it had nothing to do with him "liking" or "not liking" ORL or the organization. This was about him wanting to get one more big pay day. If ORL doesn't acquire Carter and instead offer Turk a big extension, he would have stayed no doubt.

It's clear Turk chose money over winning.

Teams were drawing offensive fouls on him like crazy whenever he tried to use his strength to get to the basket. But he does definitely need to learn some post moves.

j/k People are exaggerating when they say Dwight has no post moves. That was Dwight two years ago. He's still no Tim Duncan, but he's been building. He didn't add as much this past year because of Team USA obligations, but he did get some polish on what he'd learned the year before. He actually looks like a very good learner. His offense is night and day compared to what he was doing three years ago. There was a time when all he had was oops and put backs.
