Oh did I mention that even with Dirk on the team, he won't matter? Why because SA will overwhelmed them defensively. Didn't you see the 3 staright losses they just recieved with Dirk on the lineup? That's 3 straight. And it was not a fluke nor a coincidence. And that's only in the playoffs. IN THE PLAYOFFS. You can't allow a team to kick you around 3 straight games in the PLAYOFFS man!!
And they are on there strongest lineup.
And DON"T even talk about Dirk getting fouled in game 2. Rose gameplan on that game was not to score but to force contact with Dirk for a foul. And maybe you still wonder why SA is called a great defensive team.

    I'll drink.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Actually, they didn't lose 3 straight. They lost game 4, even tho it was pretty close throughout, and the Mavs won game 5. A pretty good win actually. Then they lost it in game 6. And that was a pretty close game too, until the 4th quarter. So, even without Dirk, all 3 of those games were pretty well contested. The Mavs just don't have the presense down-low to do anything.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Sorry, I thought you were still talking about the SA series with MAVS. You see in the playoffs, it is very important that you have to be a finisher to add more psychological advantage for you team. Every opportunity or advantage you can get must be exploited because next time there won't be any. Only 3 teams can say "Next Time" and that is LA, SA, and SAC. Why because this teams are so dominant that it is guaranteed they will meet again. Granted both teams are still intact.
MAVS was kick 3 straight by POR in the first round. If they are truly a great team, they should have closed the game in 5. It is okay to loss 2 or 3 games, but not straight 3 games.
As you can see in the past championship teams, they never allowed to be defeated 3 straight games in a row during a series. Most of the championship teams are great finishers.

If I could remember correctly during game 4 of SAC MAVS series (SAC wins) Barkley criticized Dirk comments that they are contented that they got the split from SAC.
Barkley said that if MAVS wants to be a championship team, he has to change that attitude of contentment because it's gonna hunt them in the end. And it did.
And for those people that say's what does Barkley know about championships, he faced Jordan's BULLS during the finals. And the BULLS lineup during that time are more stronger than any lineup the NBA has right now. Much more stronger than LA. Even Phil admit it.
Yes, Barkley knows what it takes. They did loss but it was a hard fought and earned win by the BULLS. Every points of it.

Sarah, I'm sorry Sacramento missed the finals AGAIN, I really am. I'm also sorry that, while Dallas has years and years of opportunity left, the Kings have a injury-plagued Webber and an almost-done Vlade about to run their course.

        Dallas is just getting started.

Re: Mailman going to the Mavericks?

I think that Sac has at least 2 years left to try to win it all. 2 solid years at least, then they'll go the way Utah has, always making the playoffs, but not enough to get anywhere. Dallas is just starting up, and their core players are still pretty young. Same thing could be said about San Antonio. They have really young players also. Houston is also on the rise, and so is Phoenix. As for my Lakers, I feel that if Shaq gets his lazy *** up and does something, and if Mitch can actually get some quality players there, then they can dominate again. That just my opinion tho.

That almost done Vlade is better than anything the Mavs can roll out there as far big men go. With Webber and Dirk going down it just shows what a fine line there is between winning a championship and just missing one. Dallas is one major injury away from being a lottery team or a low seeded playoff team. Sacramento has shown they can withstand major injuries and still put themselves in great playoff position. Also, when have you seen Petrie stand pat in the off season? Don't you think he'll make a move or two to make the Kings even stronger? When all teams are healthy and playing at their best, the Lakers are the team to beat, followed by Sacramento, San Antonio then Dallas.

By the way, no team has years and years of opportunity. What if Dirk suddenly developes injury poblems like Webber, or Duncan runs in to the same problem. I'll use football as an example. The mid 80's Bears was the dynasty that wasn't. That team was loaded, pretty young and should have easily won a few Super Bowls, but they didn't. So don't get yourself too excited yet, sh!t can happen.

You guys make some odd bets. If Mavs can somehow land 'Zo or the Mailman, (And this is assuming Zo is close to his all-star level), then we would have as good as a shot as anybody.

Mark Cuban himself said it during an interview last week, DAL will have a better shot of getting the help they need thru a sign-n-trade deal.
Names i've heard are Brian Grant (Heat) , PJ brown (Hornets) &amp; Mutombo (Nets).
