      Re: Jason Kidd is overrated

Everyone is saying the Nets got blown out, it's all over, Parker outplayed Kidd, etc... But I saw something different last night. I saw a first half where the Nets missed open jumpers, had layups spin out on fast breaks, and had Kidd miss shots he normally makes. I also saw Kidd playing Parker one-on-one (without the help of a screen/roll) in the first half, and Kidd stripping the ball from him, blocking his shot, and forcing him into bad shots. By my accounts, if the Nets make the easy looks they normallly make, they're up at lest 10 at halftime.

Then, in the second half, I saw a Spurs team playing mostly off some hyped-up emotion, where every shot they took was going in. I saw a smart adjustment from Popovich, freeing up Parker on the high screen-roll with Duncan (in the first half, Parker tried to take Kidd all by himself, and got ripped, as noted above). And with the Spurs shooting the lights out, there was no fast break.

My point in all this is, this series is far from over. There were many positives the Nets can take away from game 1 (missed easy looks, blown fast break opportunities early). I think they'll come out and attack in game 2, and not rest in the solace of keeping the game close. Look for the Nets to adjust their pick and roll defense against Parker. And, I hope, look for some screen/roll situations with Kidd to get him into the lane more. It made me upset that the media is writing that Parker "stayed in front" of Kidd and kept his driving/dishing opportunities down. Um...I never even saw Kidd trying to penetrate. He just brough the ball up and initiated their back door offense, never looking to drive and dish. Now, if he had been driving and turning the ball over, then I could credit Parker. But when Kidd simply brings the ball up and hands off, I can't give Parker's defense any credit. So hopefully, Scott will learn how to make adjustments, and give Kidd some penetrating freedom...Nets still have a great chance to win this series...

I agree with most of that.
TD is pretty damn dominate tho. Nets are going to have a hard time. They have to steal the next game. They just have to play their uptempo style.

They still do. The Nets were never favored to win. In every poll I saw, in every forecast, in every little prediction, they always had the Spurs to win it all.

I think the Spurs will win it all. But I'm cheerin for the Nets, cause they're the underdogs. GOOOOO NEW JERSEY!!!! WOOHOO!!!!
