    Re: Emotion or hobby?

I drifted ever so slightly toward hobby after the Pistons won in 2004. I was too young to put their first two titles in perspective so all I wanted was see Detroit win a championship during my adulthood, and it was completely fulfilling (and not to mention vindicating). I was definitely emotionally attached and I still am to an extent, but it all feels like it's just for fun these days, knowing my team has already reached the top and I was there for the ride.

For the record, I think emotional involvement is unavoidable when you get involved with sports. The roller coaster ride, the highs and lows, the ups and downs, are what make sports so exciting to begin with.

I actually was emotionally attached to the 76ers. But then they traded AI and I hated them for it, still do a little. I can't even watch any of their games. Can't even play with them on 2k. I mean I love all my sports teams, emotionally attached to all. But when the 6ers traded Bubba Chuck it was the worst breakup I've ever encountered in life. Honestly it's still kinda hard for me to even watch basketball. I love the game, I play the game, but's it's hard without my 6ers.....

I was emotionally attached to my 90's Knicks teams, But that Gotdamn Reggie Miller and his Pacers always knocked them off. Since then I can't really say I've been emotionally attached to a team. I always loved the Magic with Penny. But never emotionally attached to them. But I do get emotional watching some of the games ie.. Lebrons buzzer beaters in last years playoffs. I'm an NBA fan, I don't really have a team. I just enjoy the hell out of it.

College is a different story; When Kentucky plays I scream, I shout at my tv and punch walls and my floor, And I scream every obscenity known to man. I have such an emotional connection and passion for them, call me immature, but sometimes I can't even sleep at night when we lose and wake up in a foul mood. You can imagine my reactions last year when we went to the NIT. It's really an emotional experience and hobby for me. I love basketball plain and simple, I'm also emotionally connected to my towns Juco team; formerly known as the OWC Raiders. It's an amazing, passionate experience for me.

All emotion, I check for news on The Nation every single day. I take pride in being one of the like 9 fans outside of Memphis in the world. I attempt to watch every game, just to see how the players are progressing even when they have no chance of winning the actual contest

Same for me Rip. I never went to college anyways, but if I did I'd probably really care about the teams of my alma-mater.

I'm definitely emotionally involved in the teams I follow. I pour so much attention into the personnel moves, games, etc. that by sheer time invested into that I genuinely care about their success or lack thereof.

For basketball, over the years, the Wizards have become the team I care more about between my two favs (76ers and Zards). I've been to many MANY more Wizards games, and have always liked them since coming to DC area in 2002 (when they really sucked).

                I love the knicks.

If I ever saw Isiah Thomas on the street, I would want to fight him.
