i know you're a Lakers fan and all but just because people say something not positive about your team doesn't mean you gotta coem to the rescue all the time. but i'm not trying to argue about this. it's unnecessary.

I believe Miami actually offered him 11 mill with their new found cash from the Carter incident.

How does going after a ring make him a sellout? A sellout is involved with money and GP is taking an 8 million dollar pay cut for a ring. He doesn't care about the money as long as he gets a ring. He actually said on the Best Damn Sports Show Period that he would give up all the personal accolades he has for a ring. I don't see him being a sellout here. Yea it won't mean as much to us fans but it sure will feel like he had a successful career no matter what team he got a ring with. Kevin Willis doesn't care if people say his ring this year doesn't mean anything cause he didn't contribute to it. He's happy he got a ring just like Payton will be if he wins with the Lakers. And why doesn't anybody call Kidd a "sellout" for going after a ring look at the teams he's considering leaving NJ for, Dallas and San Antonio. Think it's just a coincidence those teams happened to be in the WCF this year which is the real NBA Finals. Maybe he just likes Texas right? No, he wants a ring too just like Payton. But at least Payton is willing to give up the fame and fortune he could in Milwaukee, Miami, or Portland for a shot at a title. Kidd is still gonna demand a max contract.

This deal puts a lot of pressure on the Spurs to sign Jason Kidd.

....and not just one ring for GP. Multiple rings.

I don't know about multiple rings for sure cause if Kidd signs with the Spurs they could be serious contenders with the Lakers. Especially if they can manage to resign Manu next year and he has a lot of potential.
