Pretty sure this pic is old but . . .

LeBron is pretty much a half foot from the free throw line in a game and dunks EASILY! Why on earth wouldn't this guy join the slam dunk contest? He could probably go from beyond the free throw line.

It is old... Jefferson is on the Bucks. Plus, he about half a foot past the free throw line not from the free throw line.

As for the dunk contest, yeah he should enter but, theres really nothing for him to gain by winning it so, what's the point?

As you can tell this was done during a game...Which means he can jump way further in a dunk contest.

Possibly but, I never said he couldn't. I was just pointing out that he had stepped in front of the free throw line since the OP said that he jumped "a foot and a half from FT line".

I don't want to be labeled a "*****" as so many like to throw around so frequently but I really don't want to see lebron in the dunk contest. I just can't see him doing anything really creative. I'm afraid he'll just do a bunch of power dunks that we've seen him do before. And of course the judges will give him all 10s and the commentators will continuously scream "WE ARE NOT WORTHY". That's just my opinion though.

Yeah, you know, there was a split second there where I allowed myself to think the same thing. After the twelve-thousandth one-handed breakaway tomahawk I said to myself, "Maybe, in spite of being able to nearly reach the top of the backboard, maybe LeBron just doesn't have the wherewithal to complete any borderline creative dunks." And not that this showcases everything in his arsenal and not that this makes him a god or anything, but I would have taken 86% of the dunks in this one warmup clip over any thing I saw in the entire dunk contest this year.

Bcuz I was on the other side of the fence... Cuz What's been lingering in my mind was Lebron in the high school dunk contest.

Lol that array of dunks would have won this years contest hands down, wouldn't have even been close.

It's a damn shame he pulled out.

Last 3 were good, #4 and #6 would have been killer in the Dunk Contest, but the others were not better than DeRozan's 50.

Yeah I wasn't really talking about that one-hander James started off with. And I wasn't trying to say all those dunks were so insanely crazy. I was just trying to say he's got a little more creativity than he often lets on.

On the note of DeRozan's 50, it was good. . .but I did not find it worthy of a perfect score. In terms of side-of-backboard-alley-oop-dunks, I much prefer Gerald Green's from 2007. In DeRozan's attempt, amongst other things, I did not feel the ball went in cleanly and powerfully, which is huge for me. I think that's what oftentimes helps make routine dunks appear better when the likes of LeBron or Vince complete them. They come through with emphasis and authority.

I think DeRozan's 50 was more that he went from one side of the rim to (practically) the other. He was nearly past the rim when he jammed it.

No doubt that James would pull some better stuff in the dunk contest. I didn't even know he could put it through his legs. And obviously he'd win, so I don't know what the deal is.
