Haven't paid too much attention to either of them so I'm not going to pretend like I know these guys strengths or weaknesses like others on here do lol.
I'd rather see Derrick Favors over anyone else, followed by Aminu. I like his athleticism that can bring the Nets back to that run and gun style that got them to the finals when Kenyon was here, plus he rebounds pretty good and plays defense.

I'd go with Aminu next, because i think Cousins and Monroe would just clog the driving lanes for the wings with Brook already there. Thats just my opinion though.

Still wouldn't be mad with anyone available in the top 5 this year though.

Man, if he ever develops his J consistently he could be a better passing version of Sheed, with a work ethic.

Cousins is too similar to Brook and has work ethic/maturity concerns. I'm not high on Favors.
I think he's much more comparable to Bosh and not because he's lefty. I don't think he's strong enough to back down any 4's but he has pretty good footwork for a youngin although he needs to work on finishing with his right. His J got better from Yr1 to 2 but you're right, it could still use some work. The majority of his success came when he was facing people up although he can turn over that left shoulder and hit people with a nice lefty hook. His IQ is pretty high for a young big but he can get into trouble over-dribbling in traffic (like he did in the 1st round loss to Ohio w/ all the TO's).

I like Monroe (100% biased because I'm a gtown fan) but I'd take Cousins and try to get him working with a big man coach ASAP. The things he does really well are hard to teach (knack for the OReb, aggressiveness, fire). He'll give you guys some versatility too in matching up with teams like Boston where Brooke could take KG, and Cousins bang with Perk.

I'd take Cousins over Monroe straight up as well but if the Nets can manage to trade down and still get Monroe + another decent player that would be a great move imo. Monroe may not be the physical specimen that Cousins, Favours or Aminu is but his passing / hands are fantatic and would really add alot to the Nets offensive flow imo.

Gotta agree with Ehh that Cousins + Lopez on the offensive glass would be downright scary though.

As far as Orton goes, it'd just be based on potential. Look how thin the Center position is, though.
I watched every UK game last season, and I can tell you very simply ... Orton needs work and should have stayed in school. I can't tell you how many times he got yanked out of a game by Cal for making bad decisions or just getting outplayed. But in the opposite direction, Demarcus Cousins should be the 2nd pick in the draft. On the block, he's absolutely unguardable. Great touch around the rim, and amazingly quick and agile with a drop step that has him throwing down before the defender knows what happened. And on the offensive boards, I've never seen a more instinctive rebounder. I love Evan Turner, but if I need a big man, Cousins is my guy regardless of where you rank his maturity.

Separately, while it's a compliment and a large bill to live up to, Eric Bledsoe does remind me a lot of Russell Westbrook in a few years. Someone's going to get a dynamic scoring guard that could grow into a very good defender. I'd be elated if he fell to Boston to back up Rondo and alternate off the bench between the 1 and 2.

i dont think cousins would be a great fit for the nets. it would make their frontcourt one-dimensional. both are bangers and need the ball to effective and involved in the game. cousins rarely at all played with orton at the same time because they eat up so much space is a great example. the main reason patterson and cousins can co-exist at the same time because patterson was effective on the perimeter giving cousins space in the post. on paper, lopez and cousins will give you an advantage on the offensive glass, but on the flipside you compromise your transition defense and uptempo teams will run them out of the building.

the nets seem to be more of a halfcourt team and monroe would be a better fit. hes a faceup/point forward and operates in the high post, giving lopez space. they will be even more dangerous working the hi/lo and from a consistent jumpshot from monroe. he will bring a lot more to the table than cousins based on his skill set and rebounds just as well as cousins.

if they get monroe, yi becomes expendable and the nets could trade him to move up with their second 1st round pick.

I hope the Pistons can somehow get in the 2-4 range.

And I'm going with the Kings winning the #1 overall spot.

And why do I get the feeling that some oddball team like the Sixers or the Wizards or the Kings will win the Draft Lottery and the Nets end up with the 4th pick?

In that 90 draft class they passed on Payton. Hopefully they don't do a similar thing this time around.
