Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Not saying that Kobe was at Shaq's level. Shaq was the best center, but Kobe was top 3 as a guard at the very worst. Some people had him as the absolute top guard in the league. Yet they made it seem like Kobe was riding Shaq's coattails, that he would have not had a chance at a championship if he had not been "lucky" enough to be drafted to a team that had Shaq, when the truth was that Kobe was one of the core reasons Shaq has 3 rings. No Kobe, and Chris Webber and Tim Duncan both have some jewelry that they don't have now.
But despite that obvious truth, people shadowboxed his first three rings until he "proved" that he wasn't just another nut guard by going to the Finals 3 times without Shaq, or a team loaded with All Stars.
My point is not that Lebron was ever going to be the GOAT. I've explained why that won't happen; he does not enjoy the gap in individual talent that Jordan enjoyed. That much is obvious.
The point is people are going to take that asterisk off of Kobe's first three rings, and transfer it over to whatever the Miami Triangle does. Thing is, Wade already has an asteriskless ring. Bosh was never in contention. Bron will not having a winning legacy unto his own unless he wins a ring without Wade. He'll be looked at as a great player, sure, but he's taken himself out of a conversation that he had access to before his possible pilgrimage to Miami.Comment

Like Dre said, Kobe wasn't the best player on his team when he won those rings with Shaq. If LeBron is the best player in the league, on the best team in the league, and winning MVPs and Finals MVPs, there's no reason he shouldn't be in the discussion of being the GOAT. We all saw what he can do in a bad situation, now put him in a situation similar (maybe better) than the HOFers the past 25-30 years have been in, and he somehow becomes a worse player?
People just really want to see him suffer in Cleveland, I guess. I know I do, lolComment

Yup we've seen how he does in a bad situation and we've also seen how he's done in a good situation. And the most recent situation is not a good one either(see Boston Series and how that ended)#RespectTheCultureComment

I don't understand. How would going to the Heat be any worse than leaving for the Knicks or Bulls? Because Lebron has to be the man? Why is there this sense of entitlement for fans to want to determine players legacies for them? These are grown men here.
Still though, I hold out hope they he stays in Cleveland. There is a certain charm about a player staying with one team for the majority of his career."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Do you really think LA would've won with any other center in the league in LA besides Shaq? Heck no and we all know this
I could see it happening the other way around, but not without Shaq, and it wasnt just people, it was Kobe, his coaches, all of his peers and everything the fans saw.
That still has no relation to LeBron. He wasnt lucky enough to either have one of the top 5 greatest big men ever to step on the court on his team, nor was he the benefactor of recieving one of the best big men today through a trade of almost nothing from the beginning.
Here is a guy 7 years in the league with phenomenal talent who has a choice whether he wants to go the route of Tmac or choose his own road.
Tmac being staying on teams not ever good enough, having to carry too much of the load too long, and eventually start getting injured becasue of it, because make no mistake its going to happen if he keeps it up as is.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
This has been a great thread to follow for the past week. Much thanks to all posters in this forum. Best discussion IMO in years on OS!
I will close with this: Miami and LeBron = **** FAIL for many different reasons. There are many threats to his legacy, a possible conflict and fallout with D. Wade over who becomes the alpha dog, impossible expectations, watered down rings, and even more of a WWE feel to what was once a proud professional sports league. I just can't see it happening. I sincerely hope it doesn't happen or else I may kiss the NBA goodbye forever. Hopefully he puts this rest tonight at 9:10 p.m. EST and makes a logical decision: Cavaliers, Knicks, or Bulls in that order."He who controlleths the backboard, controlleths the game." - Adolph RuppComment

But c'mon Born. If he wins 8 rings with the Heat in dominant fashion....how could we not call him a top 5 player ever? He has 2 MVP's individually and led teams with decent at best supporting casts to the Finals and deep into the playoffs.
