Yeah, I'm not from New York and can't really speak for how they view things, but it isn't the Mecca of Basketball for nothing. Just the idea of Rucker Park and what that place means around the country should tell you about New York's stance on basketball. I mean, how many neighborhood basketball courts in the US are known throughout the country?

LeFraud could NEVER, I repeat NEVER, handle the pressure of playing in New York and/or Chicago (following Jordan's legacy).
Dude is a media wh*re and he will milk this for as long as he can and then eventually he will resign with Cleveland (where they will worship him no matter how many times he quits and fails to lead the Cavs into the Finals).
He will go down as this generation's 'Charles Barkley.'Comment

Couple things here. Firstly sorry to hear about that coma you were in in 2007, must've sucked. Secondly, I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say you're a Kobe fan? Usually the only people that speak of LeBron with such hate are Kobe fans who can't stand the fact people say LeBron is better than him now or something similar.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Those are all the Long Island teams which is why that's the case. Obviously the Jets aren't anymore, but the previous generation grew up with those teams on Long Island (or close). Yeah, Flushing is in Queens but the ratio of Met:Yankee fans is more in the Mets favor on Long Island than in the boroughs.
My old man grew up in Nassau County....Jet/Met fan. Yanks/Giants are the "City" teams, Jets/Mets are more of the Long Island teams."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

As for New York and the basketball Mecca everyone, EVERYONE knows New York's basketball legacy and it's not because of the Knicks winning or losing. Can't call yourself a basketball fan and not know that. I'm not even a huge fan of New York City and I acknowledge the city's basketball heritage.Comment
