Lmao y'all are a ****in trip. Not that it matters but I've been a LeBron fan since before he was nationally famous. Oh wait, he was a winner in high school too. That's gonna disqualify me from "being taken seriously", right? 🤦*♂️[emoji849]🤣

Y'all that feel this way remind me of those same types of dudes on the internet 10 years ago that said people who listened to commercial rap weren't true hip hop heads cause they didn't appreciate the lyricism from artists like Nas and instead preferred the beats/catchy hooks of the songs that got airplay.

Dude...calm down. You are free to be an LBJ fan (btw, I love the guy as well), but a fan of a team is also free to realize you don’t care about the team.

Your comment about player only fans doesn't make sense though. Of course people are going to gravitate towards greatness. That's like saying why is everyone a fan of Drake or Jay Z or 2Pac instead of Fat Joe or Lloyd Banks or Young Buck? Does that make it harder for you to take their music tastes seriously?

I don’t care who/why you root for who you do...I’m just saying don’t expect that a lifelong Lakers fan is going to embrace you. I certainly understand their point of view.

Rap is more like an individual sport, like golf or tennis. And no, I wouldn't expect a real golf fan to take me, someone who only knows Tiger Woods, seriously.

I don't expect them to. The irony though is on here anyway, it's not the Lakers fans that have the issue 🤷*♂️

Me personally I have quite a few players that I’m just as big of a “fan” of as LeBron. It doesn’t mean I regard them to the same level as LeBron, or that I’m going to get as much enjoyment from them as I do watching LeBron.

Vince is probably my favorite player of all time, it’s not like he has some massive legacy on the line to where I would be pulling for him to win in the same sense as LeBron. I was a Jordan fan growing up, being from Arkansas and a Bulls fan that also made me a huge Pippen fan. I’ve met Steve Kerr when I was younger, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, Darrel Armstrong, all those guys were really friendly and down to earth with me when they didn’t have to be, so I’ve always been big fans of those guys as well.

But yeah I mean I’m a big fan of any player in general that I like watching play, or their personality. Big fan of Kawhi, Embiid, Giannis, Tatum and Brown, Brandon Roy, lots of other guys to a lesser extent. I was a big Grant Hill fan, Penny Hardaway obviously, Mitch Richmond, Nique, plenty of others.

But in general, I’m just a fan of NBA basketball. I don’t really have a player or team that I’m a “fan” of in the same sense that a Knicks fan would be in terms of wanting to see the Knicks win and cheering for them. I’m a fan of LeBron out of admiration of how amazing he is as a basketball player. We’re about the same age, and I’ve been basically blown away by his abilities ever since he was in high-school.

I can’t attest to all of the player only fans, but for me it’s not really a enjoyment thing. I enjoy greatness, and from my perspective LeBron is just amazing and I’m captivated by the way he’s played this game. He’s my adulthood version of Jordan. In fact in terms of being a true “player only” fan Jordan is probably the only guy I’ve ever truly latched on to in that way. Had all the shoes, posters, Bulls gear, etc. I was “Bulls fan”. But I mean he was basically my hero, the reason I loved the sport so much. I think more than anything now I just gravitate towards teams and players that I enjoy.

That being said, the older I get the more Grizz fan-ish I seem to become. I have Grizz shirts and hats and stuff that I wear to the games. I go to a good chunk of games a year and support them when I am there against whoever they are playing. It’s just I didn’t grow up a Grizz fan. They didn’t exist, and when they did they weren’t in Memphis. So it’s not the same strong tie most fans who grew up with their team have.

OJ that **** made no sense at all bruh haha. Like...bruh my head legit hurts trying to wrap my mind around what you just said. Like...how are you just as big of a fan of somebody as you are of LeBron if you don't hold them at the same level you hold LeBron or you don't get as much enjoyment watching them as you do LeBron? Like...that's basically all the prerequisites for being a fan of them equally. You realize "just as big a fan of" is saying "the same" right? I can't with you tonight OJ lol. You my boy though still.

I mean just because I’m a fan of them doesn’t mean they are on his level as a player? I don’t understand how that would confuse you. Just because I really like Jayson Tatum as a player and I’m pretty much neutral on Kevin Durant doesn’t put Tatum on his level. In terms of finding enjoyment in basketball a hot Jayson Tatum isn’t of the same realm as a hot Kevin Durant, which by default anyone who likes great basketball will get more enjoyment as a fan from watching greatness.

OT....but I was in Burlington the other day and there was literally a entire section of Memphis Grizzlies ****. Hoodies, hats, jerseys, accessories. It was the most random thing for a store in Charlotte...I can barely find Spurs gear here [emoji38]

That actually is random as hell. I don’t see Grizz gear hardly anywhere outside the store in the forum lol.
