Basically what that article states is the obvious....which is he's going to have to win Title(S) to become that "Global Icon" that Kobe is today.

Exactly. Location doesn't really matter nowadays. Would he make more money in New York?? Probably. But not a significant amount to trump any other team at this point.

      location does matter

i'll give you an example that i saw 1st hand this year since this was the 1st year we really got involved big time with events at MSG and Knicks games. Madison Square Garden was nearly full this year night in and out even with a terrible team. A lot of the customers we had were foreign. Every time i went to MSG to pick up seats we ordered there were foreigners there. People visit NYC and they want to do something so they go to a Knicks game. The Knicks have a big foreign appeal because of all the tourists that come to NYC.

NY is a giant media market for a reason. NY is where you got Wall Street, United Nations, Times Square, fashion industry, major magazine companies, tons of tourists daily, etc. There is so much going on in NYC which is why its called the City that Never Sleeps.

I'm just saying, you can't say location doesnt matter just because a guy can do some endorsements and commercials even if he plays in Cleveland. When you're in a major city like a LA or NY, the attention and oppurtunity is even bigger. He can take his brand to another level if he were in NY.

Yeah, his bottom line is the same as every one else's in the media - that LBJ has no chance to win the Knicks. Not going to listen to a finance guy preach about the Knicks' future on the court.

          Thats a really stupid article.

There would be people getting rich and it wouldn't be Lebron.

Ya'll ever read this thread and notice the amount of homerism coming from everyone(myself included)in here?(Not a shot but an observation) LOL

It's like all of us are making a case for our teams, hyping them up and shooting down any negative article/link about them saying why Lebron won't go to our teams LOL.

How are Wall Street and the United Nations going to impact Lebron?

Sports marketing is based on appealing to idiots and children who think that wearing Jordan's shoes will grant them Jordan's powers.

Wall Street traders don't buy that, nor do statesmen (nor does any educated adult).

Outside of the idea that Lebron buys MSG, nobody has explained how New York will get him more money. The banking and finance money sure as hell isn't going to touch a 25 year old kid who didn't spend a day in college.

Lol@ the people that voted for Oklahoma City.

I flip-flop on who I think he will go to every day. Earlier this week I was convinced it was Chicago now I seemed to think New York and later this week I will probably think Cleveland or the Nets. The one question I have thought about with the Knicks is how do you play Danilo with him? Would you have one of them effectively play the 2 when they are on the floor together? Do you go small and effectively run Lebron at 4?

wow that all went right over your head. I wasnt saying Wall Street and the United Nations are going to impact him, i was using those things to point out how important of a city NY is and all of the things that are in the city and how important it is to the whole world because of the things involved there.

To continue in the spirit of backing my squad and shooting down the rest of LBJ's possibilities, today was great day for the Knicks...

The Nets not winning the lottery eliminated them from contention...
The Bulls coaching search coming down to Frank & Cheeks is a major blow to Chicago's chances....

By the time the FA period actually begins it should just be the Knicks and Cleveland in contention, with every media outlet still ****ting on the Knicks.

if anything thing i would think Danilo would be the 4, he is 6'10 so its not like he's undersized. I would think of him being used the way Rashard Lewis is used in Orlando. Then you put Bosh at the 5, assuming they get Bosh if Lebron goes there.

If it was really just about wanting to win, he'd either stay in Cleveland or go to Oklahoma/Dallas/Houston(in that order )

The Knicks' wing defense would suck no matter how you slice it. LeBron makes spectacular plays on D but is far from a lock down defender and while Gallo puts in the effort on D and can block shots, he's not guarding anyone effectively that's not a step-out 4 or a slower 3. Dynamite SG's would have to be handled by LeBron, and by handled I mean pray LBJ outscores 'em.

I'm curious, shouldn't this be considered tampering by Lindsey Hunter? He's on the Bulls payroll and he comments specifically about Lebron James who is not a free agent yet. That's tampering, isn't it?

Based on everything ESPN Radio has said in the last week or so, Lindsay Hunter is going to be hit with a $1 million fine.

And this just cracks me up....

"I laugh at a situation like that simply because you have two guys who very easily could average over 20 points apiece," Hunter said. "When you can walk into an arena and have that in your pocket, you're winning. That's an easy choice. That's not even something to think about."

Real in-depth analysis. So that's the key to winning in the NBA, just get two guys who can drop 20 a night and you're golden?
