Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread

Yeah, didn't the Wizards kind of have three of those guys with Arenas, Butler and Jamison?

Anyway, if the Celtics keep this up it shows the Cavaliers really weren't as far from a championship as many have liked to say in the last week. Also makes me wonder if Ray Allen going elsewhere will be so certain now, too.
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

Then why wouldn't Lebron just go to DC?

It has far more money, power, and importance than New York. Hell, if not for DC in the 30s and the last 3 years, there might not be a New York worth acknowledging.

wow, no it doesnt. DC is all about politics. Its got all the political power. NY is more diverse in the things it offers in the sense of it being so famous for those things. New York is famous for being such a marketing city, such an important city for the fashion industry, the music industry, the financial industry, etc. New York is the most famous city in the United States.

I'm seriously thinking all this New York hype wouldn't be brought to the table if LeBron never wore a Yankees hat wherever he goes.

Having all the political power is far more "important" than any of those things. A week of DC news receives more national and worldwide coverage than a decade of New York news outside of New York.

Lebron could very well end up in New York, but some of the reasons being described are illogical.

politics are important for the country as a whole but you dont honestly think people care more about politics than they do about all of those other things combined.

"New York is the most populous city in the United States. A leading global city, New York exerts a powerful influence over global commerce, finance, media, culture, art, fashion, research, education, and entertainment. As host of the United Nations Headquarters, it is also an important center for international affairs."

Like i said, DC is more important politically. Heck D.C. is mostly a commuter city while NY has a large amount of commuters but it's population doesnt drop dramatically on the weekend like D.C.'s does. New York you got Central Park, Time Square, Broadway shows, Chinatown, Little Italy, Fashion District, Soho, 5th Ave, Wall Street, U.N., i can go on and on while in DC you just have a bunch a landmarks. DC is a nice place to go on a class trip to learn and see our country's history and monuments but NYC you have all the things i mentioned, plus more plus the surrounding boroughs.

Not to a celebrity or pro athlete. Why the hell would a pro athlete/celebrity care about politics and what DC has that's "so important"? DC has little to no appeal to a celebrity, if it was so amazing then all the movie and music stars that live in NYC would live in DC instead.

Brahma, the hype comes from LBJ saying that New York is his favorite city. That and that the Knicks have been trying like hell the last two years to free up enough cap space for two max deals. But yeah, it's def ridiculous.

Especially with the way that Ray Allen has played this post-season, I would think he'd want to stick around, although I'm interested to see if Tony Allen has what it takes to be a starter.

And dude... Orlando's at least giving an effort out there. The Cavs looked pathetic those last 3 games against Boston.

Ehhhhhh not sure about the first part. As for the part about living in DC, most of these artists/celebrities make NY their exlusive home anyway seeing how they have multiple homes just about every major city., including around the DC Area.

maybe this can help the knicks

The National Editor of Forbes predicts that LeBron James will join the Knicks, with one of the major financial drivers being James' ability to buy shares in the publicly-traded New York franchise.

The Knicks cannot compensate James with shares in the organization, Madison Square Garden, but James would be able to invest his personal wealth to acquire the public stocks. The theory is that these stocks would dramatically increase in value with James playing for the Knicks.

"Now I am telling you next season LeBron will be playing for the New York Knicks because this January they became the only franchise that can use their stock as currency," writes Ozanian.

"This would allow James to in essence work for himself and capture the upside in revenue from higher ratings on the MSG RSN, a soon-to-be renovated Madison Square Garden and much higher profits he will bring to these platforms," he explains.

In his position at Forbes, Ozanian specializes in corporate earnings, economics and sports team valuations.

That's all good for his wallet and personal well being, but the question becomes; is he that selfish to the point to where it's strictly about money??

I still don't see how this helps him get to multiple championships.

LOL. I'm still holding out for that slim chance Lebron comes to DC. I know it's a .000001% chance but a brotha can dream.

They were all healthy for one half of a season in their entire stay in DC. That 1st half all 3 made the AS Game and Eddie Jordan was the coach.

MJ thinks LeBron will end up in Chicago.

Playing golf near Chicago, Michael Jordan was asked where he thinks LeBron James will sign this summer.

                              "Chicago," Jordan said.
