I love this thread and not in a sarcastic way either.
There will be some serious mud-slingin' up in here when he makes his decision.Last edited by Anavar; 05-25-2010, 11:12 PM.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Actually it is because we're dealing with absolutes and uncertainties, fact vs ficition. What is an absolute and fact is that the Bulls have the pieces to be a playoff team and with LeBron they more than likely are still a playoff team which is the first part of the goal. Meanwhile what the Knicks can get is not an absolute, it's an uncertainty. They could not land Bosh because someone else beats them to it, because Bosh could decide he'd rather play with Wade in Miami than go with LeBron somewhere and the Knicks could end up with Boozer or Ama're who could get their deals and turn out like Rashard Lewis for all we know. Having a million dollars in your pocket is superior to a Powerball ticket that COULD MAYBE get you one hundred twenty million.
But Lebron is not going to just sign with someone on July 1 without seeing how, or having a good idea about how things shake out. If Lebron and Bosh are really interested in teaming up, I'm sure they will discuss it and see if they can make it work. So yea, right now, the Knicks situation is largely about potential and cap space. But right now doesn't matter. When we get to the point where moves are actually going to be made, there will be a much clearer picture of the different situations.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Free agency opens July 1, signings can begin July 8, and I don't expect LeBron to sign until mid-July at the earliest. That's the one certainty in this summer of free agency: LeBron said he wants to experience free agency. So, you'll probably see him spend two days in New York, then Chicago, Miami, etc. That's at least a week to a week and a half of visiting. After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

On another note, I think this column from SI's Joe Posnanski hits the LeBron situation right on the head -- particularly with the President's comments:

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
That's a terrible article in my opinion and not simply because of my obvious Chicago biasness in this whole thing. It's like he's saying you're a bad fan if you don't wish for guys like LeBron and Mauer and Pujols to stay in their cities. I don't think you're a bad fan either way, but you'd be more of a bad fan if you didn't want your team to land the best players available so that they could remain with their previous team, especially when that team is a rival. Yes, me as a Bulls fan should wish that LeBron will stay in Cleveland where they can continue to own the division and my Bulls every year. It doesn't feel wrong to want to see someone go elsewhere at all because that's the nature of sports. It's not illegal to go to another team. It's not illegal for someone to quit a job and go to another which is basically what this is in the end. It's one thing when a team leaves a city, but a player? Give me a break it's not wrong to want to see someone playing elsewhere.
Wizards fans have a crazy notion that there's a rivalry between the Cavs and the Wizards (just like Terps fans with Duke... guess it's a MD/DC thing) and even though I don't think a single Wizards fan would be mad if LBJ came to DC, but I don't think there's one hoping for it. If anything they just want him to fail wherever he goes... at the very least, lose to the Wiz in the playoffs.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Generally speaking, all articles are going to have some kind of biased based on what the writer thinks Lebron should do. With that said, I don't really agree with your logic of wanting Lebron. I get wanting him because he's Lebron, but in terms of rivals I guess I just don't think that way. I hate seeing players on my teams go to rivals but I don't think I ever want players from rival teams to come to my team "because" of the rivalry. If I'm playing pick up basketball and one guy is killing us, I don't want him to switch over to my team. I want to beat him.
