Bosh and Amar'e have the most to gain out of all the top level free agents, because they are lagging behind in endorsements, and unlike global icon Bron, they don't have the sneaker contracts and peripheral earnings that New York could offer them.
I think this is where some people were off based with NY, the city, having a major impact on LBJ. Like you said, NYC would be huge for guys like Bosh and Amare. I honestly don't think the Knicks need to land LBJ to get one of them. They could get a Joe Johnson or somehow swing CP3 and I think one of them will still follow.

I 100% agree. Joe Johnson is another guy who stands to benefit greatly from being a Knick, but I desperately don't want him to be our #2 option on a max contract. I'll take him for less money if it allows us to make a deal for a third near All Star level player.

In the right system, Joe will be great, but not as a 1-2 punch.

Actually the quote is from a book he wrote called "Rules for Radicals" that he wrote back in the 70's. I don't pull everything from a website, I do actually read every once in a while

BUT I'm just saying...Wes is really making you guys think he's not involved.

NOW, I at least I have some sort of evidence of Wes involvement. Players testimonies about him. Coaches(particularly Patino, Boehim). And maybe an unnamed GM being quoted from a reliable insider.

What do you have that makes you think he isn't involved?

Dice, I can only say that I have never heard of Wes ever influencing any NBA player, star or role player, any GM or any owner to do something on the professional level because of Wes.

He may have his hand in the college landscape, but I would like to hear how it extends to the NBA.

Wes is a part of the LBJ circle.

However, I think that's more of him being something of a friend to LBJ since High School, he doesn't have any real power.

Yeah I know he's in his circle.

My question is aimed for the overall landscape of the league besides James.

I struggle to grasp how Wes has any influence over owners or GMs

If you're NJ, would you trade the #3 overall and BL to get CP3? I was hearing that they'd go this route to lure LBJ to Jersey. I don't like the move at all because they'll be in dire need of a big man.

Heard a few rumblings of this on a few sites.

Just a bad team clearing cap space, targeting the free agents, yet people are like "I don't care where Lebron goes, as long as he's not a Knick."

I could see if every Knicks fan was talking as if he was guaranteed. I could see if management really put all of their eggs in that basket. People are dumping on the Knicks over and over because a few media people have been stirring it up to get web hits and newspaper sales.

The Knicks deserve all the crap they get, Bornin. And I've rooted for them since '69. I admit it, I'm bitter and angry that this team hasn't won a title since '73. The main reason is incompetent management, which has bumbled and stumbled the past 37 years with short-sighted moves - overpaying for underachievers, lousy drafts, trading away picks. Even during the Riley/Van Gundy years we could never get that number two guy to get us over the hump. Donnie Walsh is doing the best he can(although he screwed up the draft and hired 'No-D' D'Anfoni as coach), but I'm of the opinion the Knicks will go nowhere with Cablevision and Brain-Dead Dolan in charge. And any fan who thinks LeBron's coming here is insane. He wants to win championships now, so why sign up for this mess? It's so pathetic watching King Bloomberg, and celebrities like James Gandolfini begging the guy to play here.

Personally I think the best thing for the Knicks would be to throw the big bucks at Bosh/Amare, less than max to Joe, and then have money left over to get some decent pieces to put around them. They won't win anything next year but won't be expected to either, and they'll be much better than recent past with still room to grow. Forget about LBJ.

Dolan isn't the one making moves. He hires people to make the moves and writes checks. In the past, he has made bad decisions on who to hire. That is not relevant to now. Donnie is in charge and he has a good track record of knowing what he's doing. Saying the team can't win with Dolan in charge just isn't logical. He's never going to stop spending money, and with smart management in charge, what would he do to stop them from winning?

                          This.

It would be a hell of a start in the positive direction for once. First off I start by saying the one team that I would love LBJ to go to the most is the Knicks.

I want it to happen but in the event that he does not end up in NY, I would love to see them get a big like Bosh and a less than max Joe. Them two alone would make their squad immensely better.

And can someone please explain to me where this "Bosh,Amar'e will follow Lebron whereever he goes" mess started? Is that something either one of THEM has said or is it "A source is reporting..." fluff like that?

Bosh has said that he wants to play with Lebron and will look for an opportunity to do so. His follow up was that he won't wait on Lebron to make a decision, even though he'd prefer to go to a place where LJ or a fellow team USA member is playing.

Amar'e has been less specific, only indicating that he'd like to win a championship and won't settle for less than a max contract.

I heard on the radio just yesterday that Bosh says he wants to "be the guy" where he plays. Anyway I'm really not sure what to listen to about all this anymore. There is an opportunity to get some more insight from Bosh on this whole thing though as he will be co-hosting Mike and Mike tomorrow morning on ESPN Radio. Maybe he'll give some kind of insight while he's on there for four hours lol.
