Can you?
If not, then even without holding an MBA in finance, I can reasonably call BS.
Right now, in what they call a pitiful marketing situation, Wade has more endorsments than the Knicks roster combined. The fountain of Dreams will only work on big stars, rite? That makes sense, because Ewing used to crush Jordan's cute little midwestern marketing. Oh wait. He didn't, lol.
It always cracks me up when people who don't have millions of dollars act like they know the ins and outs of how big money works, and can comfortably belittle people who question a bull**** report.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

That michealjordanjr cat is the same dude who said Kobe was having a streaky playoffs on offense coming into the Finals.
Keep in mind he was averaging like 30, on like 50% FG and like 40% three'sComment

I do know that I can't name one current, nor past Knick that have ever benefited from this fountain of dreams. None.

You're missing the entire point. You can't rebuke a proposal without knowing its details. I mean you can, but that's not something anyone with common sense and a vested interest will do. When you have both common sense and a vested interest, you look at the concepts, do your research and see what's real and what's BS. If you don't know the proposal, you can't do that.
When you're contrary to something without knowing any of the details, or in this case, even the BASIC concepts, it's because you don't want it to be true, rather than having any proof. Since I have no details on the proposal, I have no opinion on it, other than knowing that it exists, and I can make the reasonable leap that it was well researched.
I'm not at all interested in discussing the pros and cons of something that I admittedly know nothing about. Which, contrary to what you're trying to put on me, is not a claim to know everything.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
The more I think about LBJ the more I think he stays in Cleveland. The decision is going to be about more than basketball in one way or another. Does he stay home with his family and friends or does he chase the bright lights of a big market? He's going to leave an awful lot behind in Ohio and it'll never be the same when he goes back, even if he wins 10 titles in a NY or a Chicago. Despite how big of an egomaniac LBJ is I still think I'd give Cleveland the edge right now, which is apparently what he told the CLE media the other day anyway.
There were a few Cleveland beat writers (not shock jock radio tools) on ESPN Radio tonight and they made some good points about his family, friends and entourage wanting to stay in Cleveland. While I still think this is LeBron's decision and his alone, I believe that will weigh heavily on him. I wouldn't be surprised if he went to a big market, but I'm giving Cleveland a tiny edge right now."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

And as someone else said, no one on this forum is a multi-millionaire and no one here knows the market like the people who put together that research and presentation. To simply call it "a bull**** report" when you know absolutely nothing about it or the related financial market just makes you look foolish."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I have already ruled Miami out. Riley has lost his damn mind out there and he has Wade brainwashed. It's a damn shame.
I too have CLE up there in the lead with Chicago. NY/NJ to me are tied for third.
CLE will for sure be up there again, it's a definite dynamic and a known commodity. If James leaves, he'll be labeled as a bad guy in his own hometown. Scott offers a fresh voice and Finals experience.
Chicago's roster can compete now, but I apologize for saying it, the MJ thing seems like a turn off. I really think that will play a factor whether or not James admits it.
NY and NJ could work, but only if they can get Bosh or Amare too. Those teams right now are simply in no shape to get a ring.Comment

I agree that Miami is out. I never thought Lebron was going there for a multitude of reasons. I don't know if the MJ thing is a turnoff. I know for me personally, I'd want to go to a place where it's easier to carve out my own legacy, rather than be directly compared to the GOAT every time I lose a playoff game. Especially since MJ isn't there. But Lebron really admires MJ, and maybe he looks forward to being MJ-lite.
I don't think Lebron is going to NY/NJ, but it's a toss up in a lot of ways. I think he'll stay. Cleveland is the best short term bet and all of the guys seem to just be following their wallets after all that talk about winning. I tell you what though: if these guys all stay put in their cities and don't win, they have no one to blame but themselves. It's a rare opportunity to be able to talk to a top 3 guy at his position in the offseason and say "wanna play together?"
If they all turn that down for a couple million, they've put their money where their mouths are.
For Lebron, CHI seems like such an easy call. Honestly, so does Jersey. I don't think there is a good reason not to go to Jersey. The worst things about Jersey are losing Thorn and being in Newark for two years, but the benefits are so great it's not even funny. Prok is a successful, obsessed man dedicated to winning. Jay-Z brings awesome brand recognition and an instant connection to all aspects of entertainment. Harris and Lopez are good players. The Nets have money besides what they'll spend on Lebron. They have Favors. Some of their young talent may pan out. Prok will go over the lux tax to win. Avery is a proven defensive coach and former player. If he has the exact same coaching success he had with the Mavs, but adjusted for the difference between Lebron and Dirk's talent, it's an equation that leads to multiple chips.
IMO, Jersey is the best scenario, almost easily. Derrick Rose will be a great player, but I think Lebron will make the game easy for Harris in ways that make up the difference, especially when you factor in the talent of Lopez.Last edited by Bornindamecca; 07-01-2010, 11:21 PM.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
In James' case, if he stays with CLE I don't think money will be even the third biggest factor in his decision.
But yeah, you can't feel sorry for them at all if they don't get rings, especially if they're making decisions based only because a few million more.Comment

I'm not yay or nay on the validity of whatever claims Dolan has made. What I know is this: we don't know the details of his claim. I have spent enough time with millionaires to know that there are a lot of things that people outside of that circle don't know. The examples you are using simply do not apply to the discussion.

So can NJ catch both James and Amare or Bosh too? Both for the maxes?
I know Chicago would need to move Deng to get James plus Amare/Bosh.Comment

I'm feeling better and better about our chances as this thing advances. But I have moved NJ in place of CHI as #2. I really don't think Bosh is going to be Bron's sidekick, and NJ has the best big out of the group.

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
That was profound. But even without any common sense, and even though I just WANT it to sound fishy...It really does sound fishy. I can say that. The time I've spent around millionairs tells me that a thirsty mofo will say anything to further their ambitions, and only a fool assumes the truth sans any concrete proof for or against...the fact that recent history refutes the claim nonwithstanding.
-who is assuming the truth?
-"sans concrete proof"? The whole point is that Dolan presented what he claims to be proof(or evidence) and we don't know what he presented
-Recent history doesn't apply to an unprecedented situation. If you don't see the uniqueness of what is happening now, you know less about the situation than I gave you credit for:
Any time, bro. I always hope that OS is more than just a message board to you.
New Jersey would have to make a move, but having favors as a trade chip is a very, very favorable advantage in any proposed transactions.Comment
