There is a bunch of talent out there. I own the league pass, me and my son watch as many games as we possibly can, and we are having a hard time deciding which team we want to follow becuase of how much talent is out there. I'm 33 years old, I remember watching Dominique and MJ go at it. The Showtime Lakers, Ralph Sampson and Hakeem during his rookie year. i go back in my fandom for the NBA, this isn't bad at all for the league. This will bring in so many fringe fans.

BTW, I have no idea where he goes and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he only signs a 3 year deal wherever he signs. The guy just wants to win, bottomline.
This is another reason why I don't want Lebron to sign with the Heat. The NBA is potentially at it's best right now since the post-Jordan era. The talent level is peaking and the NBA needs to take advantage of that but by Lebron and Wade joining forces it reduces those great duels people would love to see, Lebron vs Kobe, Kobe vs Wade, Wade vs Lebron, etc. Instead if Lebron goes to the Heat, you kinda waste it in a way because people start getting the attitude : hey I don't need to watch the regular season outside of when Miami is on because nobody else really has a chance to win a title. Which could result in people not appreciating the guys like Brandon Roy, Deron Williams, etc.

He's using it to celebrate the summer of LeBron.

None of this makes him a certifiable bad guy. But it does make him pathetic. "
It's called a tax write off.

Giving money to the B&GCoA (especially large sums) is hardly pathetic dude. Relax.

Anybody think that if Lebron went to the Knicks now it would be some type of karma for the Pat Riley situation in the 90s?

Not trying to change your opinion, I just see it differently and that is why I don't want this to happen.

If all LBJ wants to do is win, why couldn't he just sign or resign like Durant. Durant is or will be soon in the same tier as LBJ but yet he quietly signed his extension today and went about his business. Respect. This guy needs a 1 hour ESPN show to do it? I love his game, but his nonsense is getting old.
I can respect that, we can agree to disagree. Its just a healthy exchange of diverse opinions. But Durant is in a much better situation at this stage of his career than LeBron ever faced in Cleveland. Everybody can see the young talent on the rise in OKC. Cleveland thank to the bumbling of Danny Ferry have spent money, but haven't surrounded him with adequate talent. Look at what the Lakers have around Kobe, compare that to what has been around Lebron.

Lets hold off on judging the show until it has aired. i agree on the surface what is the point, but I'm assuming its something if ESPN was willing to give it during a primetime slot.

No doubt Durant has a better situation with the young talent, cap and moves OKC is making. Thing is, he's not making it into a show. With LBJ, everything is a show. As you mentioned, I'll keep my judgement reserved of the show till it airs but a hour is a long time to announce a resigning or signing.

A young Steve Smith was the truth. These youngsters don't respect how nice his game was. Glen Rice, wow. That was back when it was okay to be physical in the NBA, and the Heat was big at every position except point and Timmy was well Timmy, that crossover. Man, I have been hoping and praying for either 2k or EA to include hundreds of old school players and teams, not just the HOF'ers.

To be fair he did state that he would say which team he was signing with within the first 10 minutes of the show.

What other free agent in the history of American sport has held a prime time cable TV press conference to announce his future employer? It's strictly an attention grabbing publicity stunt to promote his image, from which he'll profit.

It's nice that he's giving the money directly from the event itself to charity, but that's not the point I'm trying to get at.

I agree, and i could really get into how this is a microcosm of what is wrong with America, but since this is the way that things are, why not capitalize on every opportunity that presents itself to market yourself.

But trust me, I really agree with you in principle
