Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread

Hey fellas, I been watching this Lebron madness and I have a question about the NBA salary cap set up

is there like a "number" that any team can spend, like is there a top salary? Like as long as teams have cap space, the most lebron can get is 100 mil or whatever number it is?

Im just curious because it doesn't appear as though the amount of money he would get is an issue. It feels like every team has the same amount to give lebron so they are selling the "city" or another "all star signing".

is this right, or am I off?

Just seems like if it were between the Indians and the Yankees people would be talking about the "most prolific contract ever in sports history" and he would undoubtedly be going to the yankees. In this case, it seems like his contract numbers are a "given" and other things are the make or break.

Pat Riley really pulled off a big coup here.

Didnt think that he could convince 3 young All-stars to play together.
But I guess when u have so many rings and the resume to go with it, it works.

Have to give Riley big props.

That alone is why I never understood this bogus "loyalty" argument. LeBron would have been better off being drafted by a team other than the Cavs as he wouldn't have to imitate Atlas in regard to Cleveland and free agency.

                Yes there is a max.

Cleveland could offer him a little more and an extra year, everyone else is the same.

LOL @ ESPN Radio Cleveland... very entertaining....

Trivia with some little kid on the show, "How many state titles did LBJ win at SVSM?" Other host cuts in, "Whatever the answer is it's more titles than he won with the Cavs."

you are basing this on talk radio

that's only slightly better than basing it on internet message boards

I hope that ESPN has a live of feed of Cav fan's reactions when the decision is made. That would make for some "great television."

To answe the questions posed to me earlier...

Am I Knick fan? Yes from 1986 - 2002. The team has been a joke and an embarrassment since then, and I've watched maybe 20 games or so in the last 8 years. They have an owner that everyone in this town hates (HATES), up until Walsh they have a front office run by imbeciles, and they have pissed away countless draft picks for nothing in return. The only thing Knick fans had going for them for the past 3 years has been LeBron. Is that LeBron's fault? No, it's the organizations fault. I understand that. But, the idea of MSG actually being the Mecca once again, the idea of a BALANCED Eastern conference, and the idea of the Knicks actually being relevant sucked me in.

Why is he a coward? Because he is taking the easy way out. He now has his own little dream team in South beach where he can win his championships, and play second fiddle to Wade, hang out at the beach sipping Pina Coladas, while the poor Cleveland fans who have NOTHING else get screwed. Does it suck he's not going to play in NY? Yes, but nowhere near as much as it sucks he is not back in Cleveland.

Why are they making a mockery of the league? Because they are dictating to all of us where they want to play. There is no more loyalty, there's no more competetition. All of these guys hang out and go clubbing with each other after games, and the whole idea of the other 5 guys on the floor being the ENEMY is all but gone. An illusion, something that died the day Mike retired. Who wants to see the Heat win 75 games? and chew apart the East every year? What fun is that? Where are the battles? Where are the rivalries? Mounring vs Ewing, Jordan vs Starks, Bird vs Magic, Malone vs Rodman. Those days are long gone, and it's a shame. The league is a joke. I hate the Lakers, but I have to give it to Kobe, especially in this years Finals. He played the game right, he went out there like a warrior and won that ring. Same goes for the Celtics.

Shut up and play your game, don't subject all of us to your ego fueled sideshow. These guys made a joke of all the organizations that were in play, and guys who have done far more for the league than LBJ or Bosh ever has. I want to say again, I hope that there is a lockout soon, so that way we blow up this joke of a financial structure in the NBA. No more of this cap nonsesne, and trading expiring contracts, etc etc. IT DOESNT WORK! Want proof? Just watch that sideshow in Miami this year. Competition? Pfft.

I may come off as a bitter Knick fan, but I'm more than that. I'm a bitter NBA fan.

They're showing a live feed of "The Decision" tonight at the Indians game. I have MLB network, and I will have the baseball game on while I'm watching "The Decision" just to see the reaction out of the fans. There will either be a party, or a riot.

I still can't believe it's Miami. I mean, I'm disappointed that he's not coming to the Bulls, but for them (him and his camp) to keep everything so close to the vest, only to have it leak out from everywhere the night before the announcement just seems weird.

If he goes there, it is what it is...just right now it seems weird that it all leaked like this.

LOL at the Cleveland radio stuff too. I feel for the city, but come on...
