Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread

CLE fans have the right to be bitter about this. Their self proclaimed KING led them to nothing but a sweep in the NBA finals and a whole lot of dancing around, posing for pictures, and running up a big chalk bill.

Then he drags them through this stupid FA process and goes on TV to announce his decision? How childish. Most of the media is rightfully somewhat disgusted with the way LeBron has handled himself the past few weeks. You can only expect Clevelanders to feel like they've been publicly cheated on and then laughed at.

    Assuming he's leaving, of course.

I think the most pathetic part of all of this is he's not telling the teams about his decision beforehand supposedly. So the losers are waiting by their TV's just like the rest of us. Thats complete BS

I wanna be at South beach too, getting a nice tan, hanging out with my buddies and hot topless Cuban models, sipping Pina Coladas, winning my NBA titles and MVPs and all the while earning $15mil/yr just for playing basketball!

That LeBron dude got it all mapped out!
      lol

is there like a "number" that any team can spend, like is there a top salary? Like as long as teams have cap space, the most lebron can get is 100 mil or whatever number it is?
Yes there is. It isn't like baseball where you can outbid somebody outright by offering more money/years.

For LBJ there are 2 types of maximum salary contracts he can have. There is the 5 year maximum contract he can get from any other team and a 6 year "super" max contract he can only get from the Cavs (the Cavs can sign and trade him so he can get the super max elsewhere, but they seem to not want to trade him).

If LBJ signs anywhere with cap space like Miami, Chicago or NY he is limited to a 5 year around 96 million dollar contract. If he re-ups with the Cavs, he can get a 6 year, 125 million contract.

It's meant to create parity across the league, but it doesn't really work like that.

Im just curious because it doesn't appear as though the amount of money he would get is an issue. It feels like every team has the same amount to give lebron so they are selling the "city" or another "all star signing".

is this right, or am I off?
This is true. Every other team outside of the Cavs can only offer the same contracts. It comes down to intangibles with players like LBJ, who should get max contracts.

How close is the team to winning?
Is it a good media market?
What pieces can be around me?
Other stuff might go into his decision, like team history, current members of the team, future profitability and future team flexibility. It's really complicated.

Just seems like if it were between the Indians and the Yankees people would be talking about the "most prolific contract ever in sports history" and he would undoubtedly be going to the yankees. In this case, it seems like his contract numbers are a "given" and other things are the make or break.
The last sentence basically sums up this whole idea. It isn't about who can offer him the most money, but what other intangibles surround that team and what LBJ values. Only the Cavs can outbid every team. If this situation was only about the amount of contract he can sign, he would have re-upped with the Cavs already.

        It's about exploring his choices.

If he goes there, it is what it is...just right now it seems weird that it all leaked like this right now.

LOL at the Cleveland radio stuff too. I feel for the city, but come on...

I think the Indians have to broadcast it at the stadium, if they don't there will probably be less than 1,000 people at the game.

So anybody else think that doesn't mean anything either? I mean I see it's more and more likely that he's going to Miami, but the same type of "signs" made it more likely and likely that it was going to be Chicago and then New York at some point this week. It's kinda like a musician having an album release party. Kanye West maybe from Chicago, but he's going to throw his release party in NYC or Cali or something. Hell he could even be having some big thing for Melo and LaLa with this to celebrate after the wedding. They have the wedding, dip down to Miami for this huge after party Bron is throwing for them then hit it off to a honeymoon wherever. It's like, he changes his tax address one day to Chicago, then apparently hangs out with Amar'e in NY and then the day of the show he rents up a bunch of cabanas in Miami? Suspect.

As a Knick fan, I would have had ZERO problem with him going to Chicago, or staying in Cleveland. The whole Miami thing is a joke. We are all witnesses alright, a witness to this charlatan playing puppet master with the whole league.

Yep, LeBron gave Cleveland 7 good years and Cleveland Cavs failed the dude.

                      - Didnt give LeBron a good enough team
                      - Not a good coach
                      - 2010/2011 season is not going to get better for the Cavs roster.

At least the Bulls got Pippen and Phil Jackson for Jordan.

You cannot convince me that if your TEAM can win 60+ games in the regular season, two years straight, but your team is not good enough to win a championship.

What the hell is this screaming match. I like the caller's point though. Better get the National Guard ready in Cleveland, lol.

If these fools can get a sports talk radio show, there is hope for me after all.

Actually, they do. They have the RIGHT to FEEL however they want. It's the way he's doing this, not the fact that he's doing it.

Does LeBron have the RIGHT to call himself King even though he's never won anything?
