I 'm talking about the mindset. IMO, LeBron took his ball and went home, or to his Wet-Dream Team, more to the point. You might have bought the media circus, and agree with the "me" mindset, it's the prevailing mindset of most people. I don't, team rules. But I really thought he was a throwback to the old days of the NBA, where team was "king," with the Superstars being the identity of the city they played for, not a glorified mercenary. All he proved is that he's a greater talker. He has the lingo down of a champ, but not the heart. I do agree with you about Kobe being the winner. I used to think that it was LBJ over Kobe in the character department. I was so wrong. Kobe's had some really public mistakes and came off as real aloof and arrogant for a long time. But the guy has heart and is a winner. LBJ, paper champ who is really starting to look like he views himself as the "King" with us all as "Witnesses" to his greatness. Problem, no rings. No legacy of his own now. He's starting to look like Mike Tyson after Buster Douglas. Lost heart, lost faith. Another paper champion exposed. D Wade's sidekick? Weak sauce.....

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
As much as I haven't liked Kobe in the past. My feeling is that the major difference was Kobe competitively would have wanted to compete against anyone that was in the same conversation with him ( Lebron, Wade and maybe like 2 or 3 other guys) instead of playing with them because he would want to play against the very best and probably also for his legacy. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Pippen was traded from seattle for olden polynice
Pippen wasn't ready in his early years and thus he was schooled by the greatest ever to learn the ropes
Kobe had shaq from his rookie year
What I'd like to ask vince is, when jerry buss didn't want to talk to shaq, when he had mitch do a press conference to say we don't want shaq, when shaq found out he was traded by watching it on tv
Where was your anger? Where was your outrage? Why are you not angry with them but you are with bron?? I know why and you do too
And the reason noone is calling bosh out for dissing toronto is because nobody cares about the raptors besides torontoComment

We as fans are such hypocrites. Who here would not do the samething in their professional career?
I dont get it Jordan takes less money to win and he just want to win. LeBron takes less money to win and he's a coward. SMH.You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
Why would any FA set themselves up to sign to play with Lebron when Lebron himself wasn't even sure if he'd be on the team? Makes no sense, especially when there are possibly better options out there. Obviously playing along side Lebron was the only thing they could tell any other FAs but again why would anyone commit there if he wasn't committed? It's a two way street and James had just as much a hand in that as Gilbert, Ferry and Brown had.Relax, it's just a video game!Comment

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
Everyone wants to compare Lebron to Kobe/Jordan/Bird/Magic the difference here is they all played in big market basketball cities. LA/Chicago/Boston ... Small market team's in the last 20 years to win a title are few and far between. Lebron saw the writing on the wall
Gary Payton Sonics failed
Reggie Miller Pacers failed
Stockton Malone Utah Jazz failed
Barkley wherever failed
KG failed
Kobe and Jordan had organizations behind them that allowed for them to stay and wait, big money teams. Lebron is suppose to build a dynasty in Cleveland? the guy is great and all but Cleveland is the next location of an NBA dynasty I'm not buying it. He knew it and being a student of the game and "knowing his history" why would he stay when he knows what happened to every other superstar playing on a small market team in the last 20 years.
If you have a chance to be on a potentially great team that has money to spend how do you turn it down?
Also, please tell me how him joining Miami is riding coattails?, Pat Riley bought Wade a championship and after that the last few years they have been not a good team. The comparison of Jordan joining the Pistons or Lakers is reaching. The Pistons and Lakers at the time were championship winning teams, the Heat barely made the playoffs. It's not like Wade had some powerhouse down in Miami by himself. Just a bunch of people with sour grapes today pilling on cause it's the thing to do.Last edited by BaselineBakes; 07-09-2010, 11:23 AM.

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
I agree. It's like some people want Lebron to fit into this career cardboard path. The notion that you have to struggle in order to reach the ultimate peak and only then will the results be fully justified. What's wrong in wanting a little help. We all know no one gets there by himself including MJ.Comment

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
Found this on another board and it was too good not to share. Another poster made up a "Mikhail Prokhorov (New Jersey Nets' new Russian owner)" alias and posted this gem:
"Heat. This is warn.
First you pay many rubles to Christov Bosh and countryman Dwade. Was OK. You give rubles to King as well? I will now crush you.
Glorious Nyets offered maximum rubles amount to King LeBron and get verbal commitment of "maybe." Black friend Jason-Z say Miami is nice place to live. I say Trenton is nice place to live. Almost nice as Moscow.
This is warn. I have crushed Knick with Billboard. You will surrender King LeBron to Nyets or I will execute following plan of action.
1. I make giant billboard to block sun in Miami. Not nice place anymore. Property value down. Will Smith make no more song about glory of Miami.
2. I buy Heat and trade King and comrade Bosh to Nyet. Prime Minister Stern will have to be terminate for this to be allow. I will crush Prime Minister Stern. Then move Heat to Novosibirsk to die in famine of cold Russian winter. You now have cheer for Magic.
3. I release my Boris Bear in center of Miami. You are no longer safe.
Make decide."

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
Well I'm glad to see that people are still ignorant.
Once again, for those of you in the back:
Show me one person who is mad because he left. Disappointed? Sure. Hurt? Maybe. But it is not because he left, we all knew that it was a possibility, especially after this last playoff "run".
People *at least in Cleveland* are angry that LeBron decided to do this on live TV. That LeBron had blatant disrespect towards the Cavaliers organization by not returning one phone call since the end of the season and by not letting them know before 9:20 pm the day of.
LeBron is free to go wherever he wants, just as I am, you are or really anyone is. But LeBron stepped over the line with this BS he pulled with the TV interview. You don't think it's disrespectful to Cleveland? Okay. I think it's incredibly disrespectful to go on national TV when he clearly knew he was not staying.
Why did he need to whore himself out to the entire nation? If he would have just released a piece of paper and went to Miami, no harm would have been done.
Instead, LeBron lit a match, dumped gas all over a dying man, pissed on him, then lit the fire. And to me, as a Cavalier fan, yes, I felt embarrassed. LeBron made Cleveland a BIGGER national joke than it already was.

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat
I agree with everything Dan Gilbert said except for Cleveland winning a championship before Miami, that is simply not true. I have zero respect for LeBron. When you have the kind of talent that LeBron has, you win with your own team, not go to someone elses. LeBron is basically saying that even though he has Jordan-like talent, that he'd rather be Scottie Pippen, what a true leader LeBron is! Why does LeBron get a free pass over this mindset yet the media has SKEWERED Vince Carter his entire career for the same thing? I also find it funny that LeBron said that he is going to "lead Miami to a championship", if he believes that then he's crazy, Miami is D-Wades team, LeBron is just a sidekick now. Besides, when has LeBron ever been a leader at anything except wanting to get tons of attention from the media?
Anybody that blames The Cavs for Lebron turning on them is way off base. Cleveland did everything LeBron asked them to do by acquiring guys like Mo Williams, Antwan Jamison, KEEPING Big Z (at LeBrons request), J.J. Hickson (lots of people in the league are very high on him), Resigning Sideshow Bob (again, at LeBrons request) and then LeBron turns his back on the franchise? That's wack man. At least Kobe stayed true to his word when the Lakers started making the kind of moves that he requested of them.
On top of all this, LeBron blows off messages from an owner who has been more that fair to him and his family? That's just plain arrogant and disrespectful. Then for the icing on the cake, LeBron throws an entire city/state under the bus on national television. I truly hope this Miami team is the second coming of the Rockets with Barkley, Pippen and Olajuwon and that they NEVER win even a playoff game. I guess the good thing for LeBron is that if Miami does make it to the playoffs, at least he has a real star that can take over for him for when he decides to shut it down like he did the last series this year.Comment
