I remember having the "Whose city is it anyway?" discussion about a week before LeBron making The Decision

    This thread is awesome

      Definitely sarcasm.

I don't see anyone except the Lakers - you could probably argue for the Celtics, too - having the potential to defend the Heat offensive attack.

        Lakers

They can guard the Heat the following way:

Kobe on Wade: Wade isn't the greatest jump shooter, so Kobe could probably play a little off him to help compensate for the speed difference. Then again, Kobe is an excellent - if aging and on the decline - on ball defender.

Artest on LeBron: Again with LeBron not being a terrific shooter by any means, Artest can give him some room and try to goad him into taking the jump shot instead of driving in. And if Bron tries to drive, Artest is a strong, physical defender and will make LeBron earn his points.

Gasol or Bynum on Bosh: I don't think this needs explanation. Both are good defenders when healthy.

Add to that their great team defense, and it seems likely that the Lakers will be able to slow down the Miami offensive attack.

        Celtics

The Celts can put Rondo on Wade, and while Rondo isn't a particularly good on-ball defender, he will frustrate Wade with his ability to steal the ball. Rondo also has the speed to guard Wade, they are similarly built, with Wade having an inch or two on Rondo.

They can have Pierce on LeBron - he'll need help with this assignment, there's no denying that. Boston could also try putting KG on LeBron, having him give James some room in the hope that he will shoot jump shots. As with Artest, Garnett is a physical defender, and he could be good enough to make LeBron earn his points. However, both Pierce and KG are another year older, which will affect their ability to defend.

They can put KG (or Perkins, when he gets back - but KG is probably a better option to defend Bosh's style of play) on Bosh, Bosh is like a younger KG who's a little better on offense and not nearly as good on defense.

I can't really think of any other team that could defend those three players as effectively as the Celtics and Lakers - I suppose you could throw the Mavs in there, they could stick Marion on LeBron and Haywood/Chandler on Bosh. But I don't see anyone on the Mavs who could defend Wade, Butler or Stevenson maybe could do it, but Stevenson is an offensive liability and Butler isn't as young as he used to be.

Where do people pull this stuff out of their !@# for? lol....Must of came up with this while playing 2k right? lol Just Kidding man

But its really easy to post this stuff up. When we don't even know the starting line up. And team will be on the floor for the most of the game.

          My 2 cents....
Rondo on Wade....are you kidding me?

Artest has had his troubles vs LeBron last season.

You make it seem like Wade can't score on Kobe.

Sorry, I meant those two teams have the best chance at being able to slow down the Heat. Rondo is better than Ray Allen, although neither choice is optimal... at all.

I still think Wade, LeBron, and Bosh will make it rain on them- those are just the only teams that even have a chance of stopping them IMO. I'm probably saying too much, the season hasn't even started and we don't know the Heat's starting five.

Just think of it as my desperate attempt to think of someone able to stop the Heat from winning the championship. I'll be the first to admit it's most likely wishful thinking on my part.

I agree with that..But it wasnt until Arod actually showed up in the playoffs when they won that ring...

To me it really doesnt matter whose team it is (I dont agree with Miami not being LBJ's team will taint his legacy; look at Arod before the roid scandel)

No doubt Wade will always be the fan fav in Miami

but like I always said, Wade needs LBJ just as much as LBJ needs Wade..Wade and Bosh with the rest of the Heats would not be a clear cut fav team in the East...

OK that was with a very active Shaq. And what has he done since then?

Their games are very similar. Both are tough defenders that have real good post moves and a jumper that commands respect. I'm not saying he is as good as the Big Ticket but their skill-set are very much alike.
