Its a pretty know fact that people seem to ignore (LBJ models game after Magic)

kobe had help(Shot 6-24 in game 7 of the finals...) and Wade had Shaq(before he declined) get out of here with that...
What am I googling? One of those players leaving their team to join up with a future HOFer or about Lebron modeling his game after Magic? Either way it doesn't matter because the first situation didn't happen, and the second is moot. You said yourself, Kobe had help and Wade had help, didn't say anything about either of them being the help...which is the whole argument.

There are poeple who put Wilt in the GOAT player discussion and he moved around a bit as a player (regardless of what people think he actually had a say in his trade to the Lakers IIRC). At this point I don't even care anymore it's all opinion so I'll agree with the mass opinion like I did with the opinion on Kobe three years ago. LBJ has tarnished his career forever, his legacy will never be the same, he didn't follow the path that was written in the basketball bible that you must obey to be one of the GOAT players, so he should just enjoy playing with a real champion and making millions of dollars to play a kids game.
If we can't look to the past to see how things were done to establish where we are now then what do we have? If there are players who are considered the G.O.A.T (the reason why I didn't include Wilt was because of the fundamental rules that other players had to abide by that didn't exist when he was dominating) then we look to those players to see how they got there. If we suddenly start using all sorts of criteria to put someone's name in the realm of Jordan, Magic, and Russell then the whole class of G.O.A.T will get so convoluted that it wouldn't even matter.

I have 3 examples of players widely considered G.O.A.T and they all have similar characteristics as to how they got that title. I don't know why the example that they set isn't enough of a bench mark to grade other players against. What gets you that honor then? How many people want to use you in a video game? Stats alone? Rings alone?

Has anyone ever noticed the similarities to LeBron's announcement to Kobe's announcement that he was going pro?

I'm watching E:60 right now and there was a piece on how Kobe's hometown (Philly) hates him. They showed a clip of it and it surprised me how similar both announcements were. They both had the same "I'm taking my talents to ______" line and the dramatic pause, although Kobe said he did that because of a bet with friends that he wouldn't.

Also another similarity is the affect both announcements had. Kobe's announcement made his hometown hate him, LeBron's made his hometown hate him.

        Just something I found weird.

I think wade has a chance to be a legend, after all he has help now. Lebron makes a great robin.

Hmmm...just happened to be watching some old Jordan Bulls clips on YouTube and found this little nugget on there.

Funny thing is CNBC shows this all the time and I never get a chance to watch it lol. Will definitely try to catch the full thing next time it's on, but yeah...interesting video.

Did I hear him say that he's putting himself in a position to be better than Jordan? But yet his aligns himself with another perennial MVP candidate, and future first-ballot HOFer. The two things that people say stop Kobe from being mentioned as a G.O.A.T because his first 3 rings came when he was paired with Shaq...but yet if LBJ wins while paired with Wade, and then wins some more after that...it's different somehow? The only real difference would be that Kobe was drafted and LBJ made a "Decision." You know...you gotta work extra hard so you can say "We don't have the pressure of going out and scoring 30 every night or shooting a high percentage."

Like I argued ad nauseum earlier in this thread, nothing stopping him from being a big name in the Hall of Fame with some rings, everything he did on July 8th stops him from being better than Jordan. Something that he either clearly wanted and turned his back on at the sake of getting a ring, or clearly lied about to boost his brand.

ESPN seemed to bury this article, but interesting read from ESPN Ombudsman on "The Decision"

                http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/colum...don&id=5397113

I think ESPN made some major mistakes handling the entire affair. In fact, in many ways, the network's decisions in airing the James' special -- and its justification for making them -- are a metaphor for what ails the media today.

If LeBron average a triple-double for the next 5 years ,win 2 or 3 MVP's and 4 of the next 5 titles. It wont matter who he played with. Could this move hurt his chances of being the All-time GOAT sure ,but it could also be what puts him over the top. They have played zero games and people are saying its impossible for him to become the GOAT.
You looking at the Chair MAN!

Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.

If he averages a trip-dub for the next 5 years, what would be different from his previous 7? Most notably the past 2 when he won two MVPs and his team won 60+ games?

When I stop hearing people mention "But his first 3 rings came with Shaq" when debating Kobe's G.O.A.T status, I'll look past LBJ playing with Wade. Not gonna hold the two dudes to separate standards.

I'm completely new here, so I missed the first 6,400 posts of this thread. (jesus, that's a lot of posts)

But I don't get how playing with Shaquille O'neal in his prime is comparable to Wade in his prime (right now)?

Shaq back then was one of the most dominant players in the history of the game. Top 5 in points scored historically, THE highest career FG % in the history of the game, and back then during 2 of those 3 threepeat seasons he was doing squads to the tune of 30-15 on 55-56% per game in the post season .... that is absurd. Those are Wilt/Kareem-esque figures.

Wade had a nice run the year they took down the Mavs, but other then that he's just posted a lot of nice numbers (in the scoring column exclusively).

I'm not saying that Wade isn't Top 5-10 in today's game. I'm just saying that Wade is not Top 10-15 All Time, as Shaq is (as well as easily a Top 5 center all time).

You're absolutely right. Shaq might be the most dominant player of all-time, with Jordan and Wilt.

I heard Tony Kornheiser make this analogy on the radio, and it was perfect; Wade = Jeter LeBron = ARod. In every way this makes sense. No matter what happens, how well Bron does, Miami will always be Wade's city and Miami will be looked at as Wade's team.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. Why do you say that? If a T.O./ McNabbesque situation arises in that locker room between the two and makes it public about the two butting heads, you really think Miami is going to side with Bron over Miami Wade County?
