    Re: The LeBron James Thread

Im still trying to find where Isiah said that the hate from this summers events was a result of LeBron being successful....wheres the whole article, b/c that quote doesnt seem to imply that at all...

What hes actually said is absolutrly true....alot of people despise success...nature of (some) man I guess...

He's right in that sense, but it also moreso depends on WHO it is as well.

However, he's wrong in that people hate Lebron because he's been successful. Especially since Isiah seems to forget that Lebron hasn't won ****(think big picture here) and that most, if not all of this hatred didn't come until that fateful Thursday Night TV Special.

People hate unearned arrogance(when it comes to Athletes)or hate seeing people get built up to the moon when they haven't done anything but I think we all know who's at fault for that.

Thats what I mean though, I still dont think hes saying thats THE main knock on him....even Isiahs aware of what happened this summer...

If he doesnt win a ship, hes still set for life financially and livimg his dream...thats enough for people to be mad at.....

cant disagree with Isiah one bit

I hate Donald Trump, Oprah Winfrey, Mark Cuban, and Bill Gates.

          Isaiah makes me laugh.

Don't think there's any defending Zeke here 24th. Charles Barkely ain't won ****, he's set financially and has lived/living his dream and people aren't mad at him. Jordan, Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, Will Smith. The list goes on and on of people that aren't hated or walking in the midst of people who are mad at them for those things.

Honestly, plain and simple. LeBron had his Wizard of Oz moment only when the curtain opened up he was revealed to be a giant douchebag who really bought into his own ridiculous hype. LeBron could've went the rest of his career without winning, being set financially and living his dream and the only people that would've been mad at him are Kobe trolls, guys that feel he somehow threatened Jordan's legacy with all his hype and the usual flock of NBA/sports trolls who diss the NBA, other leagues and it's players as being a bunch of greedy, overpaid criminals who don't deserve to get paid more money than doctors, teachers and cops.

              Re: The LeBron James Thread

Take a look at the article King...

And now he is about to host the biggest current name of them all, LeBron James. And that could just as easily have Isiah reverting back to the black hat, because for all the derision James experienced with the Heat last season, Thomas experienced something starkly similar during his championship days in the Pistons' "Bad Boys" era.

"It kind of comes with the territory when you're really good," Thomas said. "Nobody cares about the loser. Everybody likes the loser.

"Some people are not going to like you because you are successful and I think LeBron has been extremely successful since high school and Wade has been successful and I think those guys will continue to be successful. And with their success, there are going to be some people who are upset with that."
              Now,

The interveiwer didnt ask him "Why do you feel people dont like LeBron James?" or "Why do you think LeBron James is so hated".....if anything he is alluding more to himself...

This is the quote being taken out of context, so its not so much defending anyone, more like trying to clarifying what is being said here. I dont think this past summers events have anything to do with it.....just a general statement on people who have that type of disdain toward successful ones....

SN: PLENTY of people hate Charles Barkley, but thats another subject lol

Or let's put this in real life perspective, do you hate the guy who's living from paycheck to paycheck or the Wall Street fatcat who seemingly has everything go his way, this holds merit. Why did people hate J.J. Reddick so much when he was at Duke? It wasn't because he was some bum. Why do people hate Tom Brady so much, it's not like he's a backup quarterback. Why do people hate the Yankees so much, it's not like they're on the same level as the Baltimore Orioles.

What I'm getting at is you can't deny his logic. No one hates on people for failure it's not like NBA fans are going "Damn I really hate B.J. Mullens for being so bad" people don't feel threatened until someone does good/great. Why hate Justin Bieber, not like we know the guy personally and he's a douchebag.

I think Cristiano Ronaldo said it best when he said that he didn't get treated equally by refs because he's "good looking, rich, and great at soccer" sounds narcissistic (because it is) but when you think about it despite how ludicrous and close-minded what he said might be, in some crazy twisted way he's right.
Disagree big time here. The O's used to be great and Cal Ripken was and still is loved. I don't need to add to the list PPM already provided of players that aren't hated. And there are plenty of players that have been ridiculed that aren't heading near anybody's HOF.

With your real life example, yes I hate the guy living paycheck to paycheck who acts like he's better than everyone else and is generally a douche much more than the wall street fat cat who's really down to earth and willing to help others see his success. If people are looking at how successful someone is to decide how much they hate them then that's called jealousy. And even though some fans thinks playing the jealous card is an effective argument in a debate, the reality is it has nothing to do with that.

There is a correlation. The power someone like LBJ has makes it easy for him to be an *** and have it effect a large number of people, but that makes it easier for people to realize they have a reason to hate him... it's the actual behavior that brings on the hate.

The thing is Isaiah's a douche too. And people like this usually deflect by saying "people hate me because they're jealous". It's much easier than actually changing your behavior.
