That horse was beat to death in the other thread right before Lebron opted out and then people started to use that as Lebron's primary reason for opting out even if it wasn't true at all.

That still doesn't have the exact quote, but yeah. He specifically used the word coward in describing them (we all know he was addressing LeBron) leaving. 'That's the coward way out.' Is what he said if I'm not mistaken.

Lol that's a good plan to make him stay, say all the negative stuff about him before free agency even starts. Good job Riley.

They need to stop with that mess. If they're ready to move on, they're just ready to move on. Stop trying to shame them. Hell,I even saw Mario Chalmers of all people trying to throw shade.

                Re: The LeBron James Thread

Lebron should listen to Pat Riley's words and that should lead him to go back to Cleveland IMO. Because IMO Riley's words apply to 2010 just as much as it does to 2014.

My Top Reasons why I say he should go back to Cleveland.

1-If he wins 2-3 championships in Cleveland they would put him up on a pedestal so high he will be the sports icon of that city for a very very long time (Jim Brown). He will also bring a title to a city that has never had one, and IMO 1 win there is worth at least 2 more in Miami, maybe even 3.

2-I also like the idea of loyalty to where you grew up personally. I know some don't care about it, but sports for me has always been about long time stars with one team bringing championships or just great memorys to a franchise. Going back and winning at least one championship in Cleveland is a fantastic story, and the things sports is made of IMO. It's also the ultimate challenge, and a true champion wants to do it all, he wants the challenge. He already has 2 rings, now bring one to Cleveland and you got to feel good about everything you have achieved. No regrets.

3-Cleveland has a lot of young talent now, and with Lebron signing they could even go out and grab another star to really be dominant. It's a solid decision all around really. The talents there, he grew up there, they drafted him, he made promises to the city. It all just makes sense to me anyway.

4-Lebron still has a chance to be the face of a franchise that has NEVER won before. Miami will always have Wade with more rings then James, unless Lebron would win without him someday in the future. So even though Lebron the better player, it's Wade who helped bring championships most to that city. If you get past the what have you done for me lately attitude we tend to have at the moment, Wade is still the Miami Heat long time icon to me at least. He is still the "Bird" or the "magic" face of that franchise. Cleveland doesn't have that, Lebron can still be it.

5-I think Cleveland has a bigger upside then Miami right now. Both teams can make moves after James commits, but I think Cleveland can make the bigger moves. It really has to be Miami or Cleveland for me. Any other team is just ring chasing easy routes that will make him look bad. If he doesn't go Cleveland, stick with Miami. Be loyal to at least one of those teams.

Owners aren't loyal to anything but their own bottom line, players shouldn't have to pretend to be loyal to some franchise.

He is, but Akron apparently is a part of the Greater Cleveland area.

If I were Lebron though I can't see myself making money for Dan Gilbert and so many Cleveland fans that turned on ME, burned MY jerseys, and even said they wouldn't want me back. Of course I'm probably way more fickle than LBJ but I still think you have the best chance at success by staying in Miami than with unproven talent. Lebron wants to win NOW and I don't think he can do it with talent that still needs to develop

Let's put it this way, both Lebron and Gilbert handled things poorly in their conflict, the fans had to side with Gilbert. By having said that, I'm not too sure staying in Miami with Bosh(who is restless and wants max money), Wade(who is clearly on the decline), and playing with roster filler role players gives him the best chance to win. On the hand, the Cavs, Kyrie is proven, Wiggins' floor is Vince Carter, ultimately, for Lebron it would be the best redemption story.

                            The LeBron James Thread

We’re going to find out what we’re made of here. It’s not about options. It’s not about free agency.” The world and everyone’s place in it is a question of character. Who are you? What do you stand for? Can you suffer through adversity? Are you going to turn your back on a fight? Are you a coward?”
That's the only time the word coward was used in the Riley presser. Not even the most pointed part of the speech honestly....

And so if he leaves Miami that makes him a coward? Even though that's exactly what he did to Cleveland? If Dan Gilbert is an idiot and the worst dude ever for what he said, then I need to see a little more venom thrown at Pat Riley for what he said in that presser. LeBron hasn't even left and that was said. He hasn't even cutoff communication with Riles like he did Cleveland. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong here, but it seems like a bigger issue should have been made about that speech since Dan Gilbert was getting trashed for months after that letter. And yet Pat Riley drops that pressed and is hailed as "masterful" and "challenged LeBron" and all this other glowing stuff.

LeBron turned on them before they "turned" on him.

Riley's press conference and Dan Gilbert's rant are not the same thing man...lol

If you want to make the point that Gilbert was justified in his letter that's fine, but it's a reach trying to make this comparison...
