Re: The LeBron James Thread
I think that LBJ will stay with the Heat for 2-3 more years, then bounce and go back to the Cavs.
If LBJ leaves Cleveland twice in his career, I think he would be one of the most hated athletes of all-time.

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Question for you guys: If LeBron went back to Cleveland for the rest of his career, but went ringless, would his career be considered a failure?
I feel like the pressure to win in Cleveland would rival the pressure he faced after the Mavericks loss. If he never won with the Cavs, those who claim that LeBron couldn't win without joining two superstars would be reenergized. Of course, most people nowadays are smart enough to understand the foolishness of that argument, but from those who still believe it, their loud voices would be echoed on all ESPN shows for the rest of LeBron's life. Thats one reason I'm not a fan of choosing the Cavs, but I could be wrong.
Like seriously. How would LeBron's career be interpreted if that scenario happened?Originally posted by Kaiser Wilhelmthere should not be ties occurring in the NFL except when neither team wins the game.Comment

The LeBron James Thread
His career will never be a failure because regardless of however many rings he finishes with he'll be considered one of the bests to ever do it.
However not winning in Cleveland could lead to some backlash, though most fans who would feel that way would probably have some sort of bias against him regardless.

Re: The LeBron James Thread
It's an awkward one for me.
I grew up in Miami, but I wasn't much of a pro basketball fan until I got a little older when I really started enjoying the sport. I've always played basketball, but I was mainly a soccer fan because that's the sport my parents taught me first and it suited me the best athletically. I was always tall and a good athlete, so I could play striker in soccer, which was my favorite position. Meanwhile in basketball, I'd always be stuck playing as a big when I wanted to handle the ball and run the offense. I always practiced to be a guard, but it seemed like the coach's son was always the point guard, so I wasn't able to play my favorite position, but it was better than staying at home, so I always signed up each season.
Basketball became my favorite sport when I started playing for the middle school team, and naturally, as someone who lived in Miami, I liked the Heat. I moved to the DMV for high school, and then "Lebron" was a thing when I was a freshman on JV. I'm like here's a dude who's big and athletic like a power forward, but plays like a point guard...which was how I enjoyed playing. So Lebron instantly became my favorite player and I wanted to be like him, even though he had 3 inches and 20lbs on me. I was 100% a Heat fan, but Lebron was my guy lol.
But yup, him leaving doesn't make me not a Heat fan. I'll always be one. So while I'll never be a true Cavs fan, I will support them and hope they and Lebron achieve greatness. I'll support any team Lebron plays on.
Thanks if you read all that. I'll call myself a Heat fan whose favorite player is Lebron James.Fan of:

Re: The LeBron James Thread
As a Knick fan I would like to see him go back to Cleveland. It is such a shame the amount of hate he has gotten since the decision. He is one of the four greatest players I have ever seen (and I got to see some ABA too) and should be appreciated more.

Re: The LeBron James Thread
If LeBron doesn't return and I see Cavalier fans bad mouthing him I will do nothing but laugh. LeBron hasn't said anything... It's the media thats blowing this whole thing up and getting Cavalier fans hopes up. I hope he does return to Miami, but I will "get a grip" and watch this circus play out that the media has created.
Also, if LeBron wasn't returning to Miami don't you think he would let his bestfriend (Wade) know not to opt out of 42 million freakin' dollars? I believe there is a plan in place for this summer and even next summer. It's all rumors from here until the stars speak publicly.
p.s. All this craziness really makes me miss basketball fyi and late October can't come fast enough.Comment

Some of those are ridiculous, but others are pretty compelling.Comment
