I will relish the trainwreck that will be the Miami Heat for the next couple of seasons. Taking smaller roles for a couple months to win a gold medal is one thing, but taking smaller roles over multiple 82 game seasons is another. Will Wade really defer to LeBron? How will Bosh react to being a third option? Gilbert and Cleveland aren't going to win a title regardless, but it's not a foregone conclusion that the Heat will even make the Finals with those three either.

            Dan Gilbert.

In response to LeBron James' decision to join the Miami Heat next season, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has written a letter to fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers, which can currently be seen on the Cavaliers' website. The tone of the letter was not pro-LeBron. Here are some excerpts:
As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment...

...You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-
"Looking at the other team's eyes, You could see the intimidation in them when we ran on the field." Ray Lewis, Miami Hurricanes

You didn't watch Lebron play his first couple years. He was actually a very unselfish player on the court (to the point people were actually complaining that he was deferring too much). It's kind of hard to be that way when you're the only real offensive weapon your team has though.

I don't think it's going to be much of an issue that everyone is making it out to be.

He's just saying what the majority of the league and players are thinking.

Mark Cuban can curse out David Stern and it won't make a headline.

Let dude get some ish off his chest. If he gets fined...he'll eat it.

If he said, "I wish LeBron well." it would be fake.

More power to him. He has to rally his team and the city.

All the guy wanna do is win! I dont agree with his decision to go to South Beach...but hey he is my fav player and as a true fan I will follow him and continue to support him.

                    Re: Dan Gilbert.

so your a fan of a player? not a team.. thats not very fun.

i find it hilarious people are ripping Gilbert. esp the way James went about this whole process etc. it goes both ways, James stuck a dagger in the Cavs and Gilbert sent one back. so what.

James brought the guys in he played with for the most part the last 3 years. if you think he didnt, then something wrong with ya.

i just cant beleive he dont want to win on his own so to speak. his own team. now anything he does isnt as big etc. his numbers will even drop. that sucks from a basketball standpoint. would have been great seeing him do what he does with the Cavs or any team without Wade etc. the rest of his career and see where he stacks up.

now he wil never be greater than Kobe.. ugh

more owners need to speak out like this. like someone said above, he just said what everyone else is thinking anyway.

Lebron is my favorite player and I ultimately said before free agency whereever lebron go I will follow him because he is my favorite player. I didnt want Lebron to join this so called "Super Team" I dont think this was the best decision. I feel like he sold himself short and ruined his legacy plus put more pressure on himself than he ever had in Cleveland, because this team will have to win at least 3 championships in my opionion to not be looked at as a failure. With all this being said Lebron is my favorite player and I will continue to support him.

One of the most bitter letters in sports history. I feel his pain. But it was done in the wrong way.

But basically the man just lost a lot of money. Ticket sales will drop to an all time low.
