Usually GMs call and let players know they've been traded or go talk to them in person. I think it's pretty unprofessional if they don't contact them first.

Secondly, when's the last time an owner or GM held a one-hour spectacle about himself on ESPN before announcing what they were doing? I mean LeBron can do whatever he wants, that is fine. But dragging this out into a spectacle where there is an hour long presentation about himself where he basically rips the heart out of the city of Cleveland (his hometown and team) is just insane to me. Make your decision, go to Miami for a press conference, do that whole thing. But to turn your back on your hometown team like that on national television is very disrespectful to the franchise and its fans.

I didn't care one bit what team he ended up deciding to go to, but to do this to the only team you've played for in the area where you grew up is just horrible.

Really all of this because he decided to leave Cleveland? James was there for 7 years what more did they want? He has every right to leave, and Gilbert showed his true colors last night with those remarks. I guess Gilbert is mad cause his cash cow is gone. Its funny though cause if James had decided to stay then Gilbert woulda been kissing his feet.

After seeing Lebron's fake politically correct garbage Decision special, it's refreshing to see Gilbert lose his mind and post that letter. It may be childish and bitter but I'll take it over Lebron's crafted actions.

Hey Dan Gilbert, good luck trying to get free agents to come play for the Cavaliers. Because if there's one thing that NBA Players love, it's an owner who will completely trash you in the media. What a moron. It's free agency. Lebron doesn't owe Cleveland anything. I really wish he would've have stayed and if he wasn't gonna stay I really wish that he wouldn't have done that BS hour-long special but to come out and trash the guy that saved your franchise is ridiculous. Sorry Dan, you give ANY 25 year old kid, 100 million dollars, and a ticket to South Beach, they're gone. Now get over it and figure out what you're gonna do with Delonte West. Haha.

General Rule as a owner: Never pen a press release in anger

Why? Because it's generally chaulked full of strawman arguements that will bite eventually bite you in the ***.

Yeah he looks quite clownish right now, especially making guarantees on things that in anyway involves a championship from the Cavs given their current state, and he also looks stupid given the fact that he was just making cartoon pitches to this very same player that he's now trashing, but I do think it's important to in some way plight and empathize with the Cav fans, and have them understand that as a owner, you are as disappointed, blind sided (if the reports are true) and as upset about this as they are...

It's fine for the dude to be upset, but as an owner he's gotta be above this childish trashing of a player that made his team relevant for the past 7 years.

I'm sure that letter will really make future free agents want to come to Cleveland.

Funny that earlier this week he was kissing Lebron's *** and showing him "inside joke" cartoons.

He sounds like the crazy, clingy girlfriend after you leave her.

LOL@ this effecting future free agents.

Guys, it's Cleveland, no superstar is coming here anyway. Only way Cleveland gets a good player is if we give them a massive overpayment.

This won't do a damn thing to effect FA's view of Cleveland. No one is coming here anyway.

i honestly think he wrote this to help the city of Cleveland, they were down in the dumps when lebron made his decision, i think he was just trying to get them hyped by saying we basically are going to work or butts off to make sure the heat dont win.

Its only different here because he wasnt working for them

This would be a contractor out of contract, and he decides to look for work elsewhere.

Thats not classy nor is it classless, its just his decision

As I said though, Gilbert is playing the butt hurt blind man here when thats not true at all

What it is, is that, he's going to lose money thats why he's ranting like a 15 year old female.
