He really should be reprimanded publicly for that comment, it is close to a racial slur, to be honest. Then again, this is Slam! magazine that we are talking about.

Thanks for the e-mail address. Just sent one to the writer and one to "El Nuevo Dia", P.R.'s #1 newspaper. Appalled...truly appalled.

            Already did that yesterday.

The slam writer actually answered my email yesterday in the Links article. Today's Links

Since I'm pretty sure I will not be the only puerto rican to write you, disgusted by your remarks about our national anthem, I will make this short. BE RESPECTFUL! It's obvious you feel no love for your country, if that was the case, you will understand how offensive your comment was towards another country's anthem. That or you simply hate Puerto ricans. All through your article, it's obvious you are "trying" to be funny and make your article interesting or at least readable, but some things are just off-limits. There was no need for that kind of statement since your article was actually quite informative, but for some reason only you know, you had to stain something dearly important to a lot of people (I bet lot of friends of yours too). I will not comment on other sarcastic comments you made on your article since I'm sure lots of people will point them out to you.

PS: Jose Ortíz's nickname is "Piculín".

First up, thanks for straightening me out on my main man Piculín. That's also his middle name, by the way.

Now, about the anthem stuff, you actually were the only person that wrote in to say you didn't like my remarks on the Puerto Rican national anthem. Maybe because everyone else realized I was joking. It's funny, though, because I was writing up those notes at home on Sunday night, sitting on the couch next to my wife watching a movie. I tested the line (without the Big Pun reference) out on her -- she's full-blooded Cuban and recently organized a Hispanic initiative group at AOL/Time-Warner, just so you know -- and she initially said it might be a little much. After I added the "Still Not a Player" line in there, she said that made it obvious I was joking and it was cool. I wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings, and I'm sorry if I did.

But I realize that the song means something to many people, so don't take what I say personally. And if you care, I love Puerto Rico, was there about a month ago and had nothing but a good time.

(And tell me you didn't like Big Pun's "Still Not a Player." That song is on my all-time Top Ten.) Maybe that can be the national anthem here.

Thank GOD Piculin is his MAIN MAN
I will not waste my time emailing this guy anymore, but if anyone cares to let him know, Jose Ortiz's middle name is NOT Piculín, it's Rafael. Jose Rafael 'Piculín' Ortiz. This guy knows as much of Jose Ortiz as I know about speaking japanise.....
